yes, but not to improve my cycling. running is excellent for cardio, but it's hard on the knees and the leg muscles.

If you do? what is your target time for a 10km run? Thanks running was my first love. I used to join 10 and 21k races... even done one 42k. I stopped due to knee problems. too. That was about 10 yrs ago In 2002, I started biking. And just recently, I discovered that my knees are back. So, as part of my keeping in shape, I try to run at least once to twice a week for an hour after work( i target duration rather than distance). I used to be able to do 38 min for a 10k race, maybe a sub-50 at this age is still easy.

last night i went running for the first time around the UP oval, encouraged by my friends XHIBO (of PinoyMTBiker and mtbbabes) and jeff (of ONDABAG). they patiently ran alongside me doing baby steps, and we did 3 laps around the oval (6.6kms i think?) in 1:10. i was surprised that my lungs did better than my legs, considering that i smoke and have never run before. after 3 laps i was panting only slightly, but my shins were on fire. they didn't even break into a sweat! after i gave up they ran an extra lap at a much much faster pace.
xhi said UP is not a good place to run because the road is uneven, she suggests The Fort the next time. the next time?![/i] i woke up this morning aching all over--my shins, thighs, abs, hips, armpits (armpits!)--and asking myself what possessed me to do this in the first place. but same with biking, while grunting uphill under a scorching sun, you ask yourself why didn't you just stay at home and take a nap. some of us are crazy that way.

i think i made a booboo... sorry. its under 60min for 10km... sorry for the mistake. the fastest i clocked myself was @ 55min, that's at marikina sports complex. that was 1993 pa! the terrain is boring... i have never entered a marathon... i usually run @ ateneo campus. i love the rolling terrain there and the ahem.... hehehe... ;D sorry again...

during my running days (before i got hooked to mtb) i was doing a 6km run at around 45-50 mins. i never did any effort to improve my time because i was more into logged time than speed.
i hope to do running again during weekdays as crosstraining for weekend cycling to improve on my stamina. after biking for almost 8 months now, i still get smoked while huffing and puffing the uphill climbs. i hope crosstraining will improve my weekend cycling.

i used to run a lot. at my peak i was able to complete a 2 mile run at almost thirteen minutes. this was ten years and 40 pounds ago. when i took up running again early this year was able to do a 2 mile run for 14 minutes. problem was my weight didn't go down so it really was hard on my knees. that's when i discovered the wonderful world of cycling, hopefully i'll be able to lose some weight so i can run again...

i run for cardios. when i started, i was a couch potato - a 3min non-stop run was sooooooooo hard to do. now i can run for an hour non-stop (been joining 10K runs newbalance, milo, adidas, lasalle, yakult, avon, etc.. before i was into biking and before becoming a gymrat --> pre biking days) yes i still run. am rediscovering the love of running again - been running daily for the past 2 weeks. last night, i ran with xhibo, jeff and lychee at the fort. whoopiyou should try The Fort at night.. sawap!

off the bike, I walk everyday, walking is fun.
2-5k, shopping mall, stairs, if traffic is heavy i walk,
i think it helps, I consider it as part of my training,
