chief mejo mabibigla katawan mo sa diet na yan. the body's chief sources of energy are ATP, glycogen, and fats...the diet has greatly reduced carbohydrate intake which is needed to replenish energy stores. the diet will definitely shock your system if you're not used to eating lean. nakakapanghina yan and usually madalas uminit ulo mo on those 3 days...hehehe... siguro kung susundan ang diet over a significant time frame, weight loss will be achieved pero depends pa rin on your intake in the remaining 4 days. just keep in mind that to lose weight, energy expenditure should be greater than if not equal to energy intake. the muscles you are able to recruit in your physical activities, the more energy you are able to use; and your basal metabolic rate also increases to a new stable level. so a sensible diet coupled w/ regular and appropriate physical activities/exertions should lead to your desired weight. what we want are chronic (ones that are achieved through habit and discipline) adaptations and not transient (temporary) ones... keep on riding, brad! ;D

well , us filipinos are eatig too much rice anyway Get carbs from your veggies Stick to a cup of rice or less and minimal fat sa ulam, fruits and veggies plus exercise , papayat ka rin
I'm in the weight management biz ngayon and I've talked to about 50 people in the past month about their weight A lot of people are about to give up that they will ever lose weight A lot of people are looking for a miracle drug , that will make you slim overnight A lot of people wish that they would lose weight but are either to lazy or have very low tolerance for discomfort @#$%^^& daming ang titgas ng ulo!!
Sabi nga ni pareng Bruce Lee - it's easy to teach the techniques , hard to teach the attitude
it's easy to lose weight , but most people dont have the discipline/mental strength to carry it out

Allegra is right on this one..most of us pinoy/pinays eat lots of rice because of our foods are more salt in them "specially adobo yam yam ;D". As far as I know rice is the fastest carbohydrate to digest and a good source of fuel but without exercises this will turn to sugar and fat. That what you could see of us have big belly and love handles . BUT again it depends on your genes . Some of us eat to much but never gain weight and some just smelling the food and here the lbs added to your weight. I still believe increase activity of exercises specially cardio and weight training will shave those extra lbs with added discipline of food intake. Diet itself would not help a lot only damaging your system and your heart. Just my 2 cents...

I think the 3-day-diet belongs to the advanced level of dieting.
Dieting, like all kinds of activity, requires that we go through step 1 before going to step 2. Step 1 should NOT be... - drinking coffee - a slice of peanut butter sandwich - and a fruit
... when you're accustomed to eating - tosilog with 2 plates of sinangag - 2 donuts - 7 (out of 8) slices of eggpie or cake for breakfast. - and drinking 1 liter of juice
Step 1 should be a slice of the pie instead of 7. 1 donut from the usual 2. 1 plate of rice instead of the usual 2. 1 egg from the usual 2... (you get my drift.)
Then at the same time, we have to workout that body to build muscles. Muscles will allow us to train harder and longer. Muscles consumes energy and will help your body grind down that fat.
In time, hopefully, you get results. When we speak of time, it could be 2 years or 20.
Losing weight is like mastering a sport. You don't dream about winning a competition after 1 year in the sport. It takes more like 5 to 10 years. 5 years (with proper training), IMHO, is the minimum time it takes to master a particular sport, unless we're talking about the lowest level of competition, which is more like fungames (palaro). When I say competition, I'm talking about competing with more than a dozen individuals who call themselves hardcore. When I say hardcore, I'm talking about people like the PinoyMTBiker group in this forum, who talks about the sport, who eats, sleep and dream about the sport. We may not be training for the national level, but we're no softcore.
Spending more than P100K and 4 hours thinking about the sport everyday is not soft-core, my friends!
Remember, losing weight requires that you: - do not ever starve yourself - slowly lessen the amount of food intake (the bad ones) - slowly increase the amount of physical activity - educate yourself and choose the right kind of food and activity
Challenges worth overcoming don't come easy. Enjoy the sport and grit your teeth and start dieting!

Try switching to brown rice. It's a bit heavier on the stomach and it has a lower GI rating so it won't spike your blood sugar levels and it'll take longer to metabolize.
On the other side, we do eat too much rice but Filipinos are not obese as a race. We might be a bit overweight but look at the people in the States, especially the south... they don't eat a lot of rice. Meat and potatoes and of course fastfood! But when you see them in person, your definition of obesity will change! Maybe they don't eat as much carbs as us, but the size of their portions can feed a whole family of 4 sometimes.

Can't seem to figure it out... maybe it's the midterm exam week catching up with me. am not sure about proper term though but i think thats what they call it when someone can no longer stick to his diet plans and suddenly decides to give it up...kakain ng madami na parang wala ng bukas and as a result he will gain not only the weight back to when he started out but sometimes even more...then he'll go back to strict diet again...e matakaw talaga so he'll quit again..then diet again...an endless cycle that can result to gaining more weight. some say that when you reduce your food intake, its like teaching your body to be more efficient in making use of the limited food...the next time na kumain ka ng marami your body will apply the same efficiency as if you're still on a diet..your system will store the excess as fats etc etc.

Thats what happens if you go on a crash diet It's hard to maintain walang magandang long term results

just avoid the darn see-saw diet...i suspect its the main reason for the prevalence of fat housewives. GRRRRR!!.... What's the see-saw diet? Can't seem to figure it out... maybe it's the midterm exam week catching up with me. "Seesaw" is a metaphor used to describe an attitude. Which in Tagalog, we use the term "Ningas cogon". Seesaw can also be used to describe the process or the effects, like "seesaw dieting" and "seesaw bodyweight". When we diet (and maybe lose weight) for a few months and then give up, and then tries a different diet and quits, and repeats the process, that's seesaw dieting. When our bodyweight keeps on changing from time to time, going up and down and up and down, that's having a "seesaw" bodyweight. Seesaw usually happens to people who are not intrinsically motivated. Example, your buddies introduce you weight training, so you go. Then you try out the machines and the plates. Then the trainer gives you a nice program. Then your training partner pushes you to work-out that butt. Then maybe... your training partner relocates to a different gym. your trainer doesn't spend much time with you, since there are more beginners to take care of. your body start to hurt. And finally... you decide to give up and instead of wasting all those time, preferred to spend the time wisely and watch TV instead. Watch those showbiz interviews and become convinced that you can skip the exercise and get a liposuction instead. See those infomercials with wonderful sounding scientific medicine that would grow your chest, slim your waist, clear your skin, grow tall, and magically make you smart, healthy and have more hair. Spends months daydreaming about hollywood. Meanwhile, you're eating MM's and cookies and chocs and pizzas and pastas and chips, sodas, sweets, ice-cream and what-have yous. Becomes so depressed and decides to do something about it again. On a different planet, we find disciplined, internally-motivated individuals who don't need commercials to get excited. He has a "hard attitude". The minute he wakes up, and even in his sleep, he has a "hard-*n". He thinks, eats and sleep "PinoyMTBiker"! ;D ;D ;D P.S. Seesaw ain't sounding exactly like a good thang...
