My doctor can't fine any problem, did X-ray, catscan, MRI and blood test. I also done acupuncture, deep massage. Is this the sign of getting old?

I'm getting some pain also sometimes on my back especially stiff climbs until the next day, after that it goes away. While going up sometimes my lungs area below the ribs hurts and have to slow down and grasped some more oxygen. It goes away on the way down........ I believe all those pain happens on stiff uphill, that's why not too many bikers likes stiff uphill climb...Sign of getting old? there's always a difference when you're riding 5 years earlier, energy level is always better when younger, like myself I need a new pair of legs.

;D ;D ;D do you guys do any stretching before and after a ride? i'm forty years old and i think this is the only thing that keeps unusual pain away. stretching helps restore the proper alignment of muscles esp after you've been jamming on the trail. my layman's opinion is that you're suffering from some kind of muscular disalignment. a massage, is a bonus treatment that gets rid of the aches from muscle fatigue and helps put me to sleep.

Hi Guys, Thanks for the input but... I do workout 3 day a week for weight (especially upper body) and 2 days intense cardio (logging 15 miles per XC ride). Also group rides on Sunday.
Gulliver has point actually I never stretched before and after the ride. I feel some numbness to my upper body trough my neck after a few miles when riding due to heavy breathing and hitting ruts and roots sections. Since time change here and the days are shorter probably just use my trainer and see what happen.
Oops.. Not to mention make that 5 days intense cardio I forgot to include 3 day intense cardio with my wife he he he. ;D ;D ;D

I think so. I'm 5' 9" and use medium (17-18 inches) frame with 120x10 mm stem for my racing bike and 110x5 mm for my free ride bike with 5 degree rise bar. Actually I'm been using medium ten years ago when I first started mountain biking. I tried small frame once with a friend and it is too small for me. I don't know this started a year ago when we went to Mexico for 12 hours race (4 team relay). When I did my last lap around 11 p.m and I crushed so badly, cracked my frame seat tube and landed my upper back due to loose soil powder like(trail been used 11 hours with more than 70 riders). That's next day I had a pain on my neck and upper back but within few days I was normal except for few hailing brushes. Now, look like the pain is around once in a while every time I ride.

I usually I lean forward upon climbing for better pedaling and traction. Probably you're right. I will search for a doctor around my area. Thanks for the advice.
Warning.. Don't do the 3 extra cardio if you planning a long ride ;D ;D ;D

Sir Jr, I think the warmup and stretching would help a lot before your ride. I'm also a gym rat, and I have a colleague/gym buddy who doesn't even jog nor stretch before lifting weights. When he enters the gym he just drinks water and goes straight lifting weights, after a few months he also felt chest pain naman (since he's not much into biking), and at one time he was rushed to the hospital because he can hardly breathe and looked pale at that time. The doctors also couldn't find anything. I suggest you look for a Chiropractor (for your bones) and Cardio doctor (for your heart.) Share ko lan. ^_^
BTW, how old are you nb?
