Anybody here experience genital numbness after a long stiff climb. Its very stranged feeling and it will be gone a while after getting off the bike. Is there anyway to avoid this. Is there any serious complication or its just a matter of changing saddle or something ;D.
Your thoughts please.

This does happen on extended climbs when the rider stays seated. Stand and pedal every after ten to fifteen minutes to allow blood flow into the pelvic area and vary the muscle groups you use. Specialized design their Body Geometry saddles to work around this problem, especially after it was proven that the numbness in a cyclist's nether region could be linked to impotency. Just stand on your pedals every now and then.

Also, my saddle is tilted a tad bit downwards. Further, it would help if you wore a tight-fit undergarment to hold your nuts in place and keep them from jiggling. hihihihihihihihihhih... ;D

I dunno if you guys share this experience, but what happened to me was this: I also experienced the numbness before, even had some difficulty urinating, when i started biking. I discovered that I wasn't hydrating properly because the urine was dark, so I made it a point to drink a lot, especially on climbs. After I did that, the discomfort eased a lot! Maybe being well-hydrated also helps in the circulation? I dunno...

So is this normal? Coz I started using a roller at home last week and after about 20-30 mins in the roller my nuts are numb.
Tried tilting the saddle a little forward but the numbness after the workout is stil there. Im using Selle Italia saddle. Should I use a different saddle or is there a problem with my positioning over the bike? Wrong geometry perhaps? My game is DH so i dont usually ride this bike which is set up XC, full stretch.
Anyone please...

likewise had that experience also......crazy i tot im "el capone" feeling......bad trip! more or less positioning of the saddle......dont tilt ur saddle coz contact there is in ur nuts after ride so long.....avoid it, reposition, get the right angle if u want the sit position.....or practice the standing position as well the doggy style coz ur a DHer ;D ;D ;D ...... protect ur self at all times ...... condom is a must fafa,....4x this sunday.....r u all joining? in short, "ugat/nerve naipit" that caused numbness, blood circulation poor!

i've felt this before. Then I bought a Specialized BG Avatar saddle which is supposed to relieve pressure on your jewels and allow circulation. It works for me. But when I use my lycra cycling shorts with a thick chamois, the area tends to get a little numb parin. Not as much as with my old saddle though. So before you go off and buy new saddles, try using a thinner chamois which will not compress your groin area too much when seated.

also experiment with the angle of your seat. some people like their seat parallel to the ground. others nose slightly up, others nose slightly down. We're all different, see what works for you. a seat that's angled nose down too much could cause your weight to slide forward putting pressure into the wrong area instead of on the "sit bones". nose up too much is also bad. a seat that's too high may also cause problems if you have to "reach" or "stretch" on the down stroke. when all else fails, get a daily massage to increase circulation ;D

we rode with a russian rider yesterday and he was using what he said was called "Easy Seat". it's a saddle that has no nose. putol talaga. it's just enough to support the pelvic bone. he says it's a product of research. i asked how he keeps himself from sliding, and he said it's not difficult at all, except it changes your balance. has anyone tried this saddle before?

Your thoughts please. had the problem a few months ago. i had to ride off saddle every few minutes. climbing was murder. saddle was level to the ground. i changed my giant velo to selle filante and lowered the nose a bit. so far, i can ride 3 hours without getting off the saddle. ;D

numbed nuts is bound to happen during long rides and long uphill pedalling. i think that there is no way to avoid it, but there are a couple of ways to minimize it, like:
1. stand after a being in the saddle for a couple of minutes, it helps in circulating blood in the area of the butts and nuts.
2. be sure to check your saddle position. a mis-positioned saddle is bound to give you discomfort during those long rides/uphill pedalling.
3. invest in a comfortable saddle, a couple of hundred pesos will spell a big difference between a comfortable ride and a numbed/blistered nut/"singit".
4. and i think that wearing bike specific shorts (felix bakat and/or baggy shorts) w/o any underwear helps a lot in minimizing numbness/blisters

Spend on your shorts and seats. Yeah i found out that most of the times...there is a reason why their prices are high = research and materials
or if it really bothers you, have a "bike fitting" ..it might be a body-to-bike geometry issue

I think is very common. It could be the saddle adjustments and follow the advice of Idol Arci.

jr (OT na tayo, di bale MOD ka naman eh) What can i say........padyak and mamam......that's quite a good combination. as long as it's not the other way around (mamam and padyak) it becomes lethal. Ride safe sir and as always, hope to ride with you sometime on your sojourn back sa 'Pinas.
