hmm..but is it also possible that maybe what you think as the routine is exactly the craving for a nicotine hit? well that's actually what i think of it but am not sure whoopi. enzo, i think its what they call "handfree" processing..its actually an excellent selling point or claim for a food product. kaya pala maalat. Lamok, Excellent selling point indeed. ;D

someone brought a pack of butong-pakwan at the office and i quickly got addicted to it. when my smoking buddies asked me to take a cig break, i took the seeds along and cracked and ate them all throughout the break--i didn't have time (or spare hands) to smoke. so butong-pakwan could be the solution to quitting smoking. try it. Some Granny's used to tell us when we were kids that butong pakwan (watermelon seeds) helps in cleansing (purge)(purga). So we eat and eat tons of them. You never realise that you consume alot already, but were just happy biting and nibbling. We even have different opening techniques. Sometimes we even et the pods or seed covering itself. But, the process extracting the seed consist of stomping, kicking and mashing the pulp and skin of the fruit itself. Just like what they are doing with the grapes to prepare it for wine making. Have you seen the movie A walk in the clouds? that's the whole process in butong pakwan too. And whats wrong with that? You dont know if the guy who stomp or prepare it, washed his feet or have some kind of foot disease or whatever you can think of. Then they will sun dry it and flies will have a feast on it. Just like the sunning of the pork rind too.( chicharon) Now when you nibble at it, your lips come into contact with the seed pod where all the bacterias are. You get the bacterias and and cleanse it at the same time. If they will mutate right away. Smoke na lang tayo? ewww . Now who knows what kind of method they applied on those peeled watermelon/pumpkin seeds. Manual labor perhaps? ;D Which would you go for? The Footsie flavored or the Salivalicious one. lol

wow... its great to know that us non-smoking PinoyMTBiker peeps outnumber the smokers here. ;D although i've ridden with some riders before who kick ass in uphills and then whips out a cigarette on top to wait for us non-smokers. i don't freakin know how they do it and it always amazes me.

It's called freaking superior genetics, dude! The rest of us will have to go thru life the hard way, with patience and determination.

My 65 yrs old mom living w/ me now. smoked for 45 years, peaked at about 2 packs per day. For the past six months now , she went in and out of the hospital (ICU / CCU) due to emphysema /COPD and to date we spent about Php 9xx,xxx.xx on hospital bill alone not to mention prescription drugs maintenance and Daily Oxygen consumption ( on tank) which i believe is more than the amount she puffed on her life time of smoking The First sentence she spoke after her first hospitalization was. "I wish i did not start smoking" "why start something you think you would regret in the end."Just a thought provoking statement

After hitting reverse-palace and maarat in 2 consecutive weekends, I've kicked off the habit in more than 2 weeks now. It feels so good to breath efficiently! Though the urge is still there, it's really a mind over matter thing.. I've became dependent on the cigarette stick to tide me over during bowel movements and after meals.. It was really hard to kick of the habit, decreasing consumption is not working... it's like fooling yourself, Quiting cold turkey i guess is the best route. Just be strong and avoid the bad influences for the meantime..

glad to hear that biking is helping you kick the habit. It's one of the things I love about this sport, in a way fitness is not really you're primary target (like when you go to the gym), but rather you aim to be fit because it helps you enjoy the sport even more

I suggest you put up your own forum and ban smoking there- whether online or IRL. Truthfully, this is the most absurd suggestion I've heard. Is this to help other smokers quit, or to help yourself?

Wala akong ka jamming! sa EB's. there are times when I crave so bad for a drag, I will do anything. I have this natural ON and OFF switch. In everything I do, when I put my mind to OFF setting, it will be done. Such as, smoking, drinking, or even drugs. The drugs I laid down all together. Just not right however I look or think of it. Same with working, kinda obsses sa work that I will work on a project till morning at times even without any deadline. I will smoke heavily for a month then stop without feeling the withdrawal. Same with drinking, binge drinking 3 nights a week the other remaining nights, borderline binge drinking. It's good that I can stop it anytime I want, but I wish I can stop once and for all. For 1 month now, Im smoking 1 1/2 packs a day and I can feel my lungs complaining already. Of course! Stupid of me. I guess I need to go somewhere where there are no smokers. Paktay!!! Sasama pa ako kay Roche
