Sirs, May I ask if there is a special diet in gaining body mass or "para lumaki yung katawan". I'm recovering from pneumonia and I look skinny (kaunti lang). My body is aching to go bike around but it's not favorable to go out with my condition. Anyways thanks in advance for everyone.

You will be able to recover soon...I could suggest that eat more carbohydrates and protein enrich foods like bread, rice, fish, green leafy vegetables, and fruits... Sleep at least 8 hrs....Avoid vigorous and strenous activity like biking and sex...Tell your GF to takecare of you... Pagaling ka para maka ride uli tayo...

Don't worry Kris, you'll soon be back to your old form. I also had a bout with pneumonia a few years ago, and I also lost weight. But I didn't mind losing weight, gusto ko kasi pumayat non. Unfortunately for me, I gained back the weight I lost a few weeks after I got well. Maybe you'll gain back the weight you lost too, just eat healthy and don't over exert yourself.

If you've lost a lot of weight due to illness, you want to make sure that the weight you get back is muscle and not fat. Your body has been under a lot of stress while you've been lying in bed. If you just increase your food intake abruptly while remaining sedentary, your body will try to save as much as possible as fatty tissue.
Once you're fully recovered, start a weight training program and increase your food intake gradually. This will tell your body that you need to use your muscles and make building muscle mass a higher priority over storing fat.

I've noticed that I've reduced my muscles on the chest area, on the legs and arms. I think this is due to reduced physical activity. Once I've recovered I'll do what you've told me guys (with moderation, of course) Thanks woofers

Resistance training with higher protein intake is the key. 1 gram of protein intake per one pound of body weight to gain lean mass. Eat fatty protein sources, you get more than lean mass.

Just went to the doctor earlier this afternoon and got chest xray, good news is that the pneumonia is cleared up and further analysis on the blood shows normal. The thing is, I should rehabilitate my self for 1 month with my formulated diet and wait for the results

ii recommend all meat lovers pan pizza. MWF and quarter pounder TTHS (bec. burger mcdo is for gay...) Sunday Bulalo Paktay!! atake corazon ;D Kris.. as what has been already said, eat high protein food. Supplements can also be helpful. Protein shakes and drinks like enervon/sustagen might also be good. Eat more frequent but smaller meals throughout the day. But do not forget your veggies/, fruits, carbo & fat sources too. Maybe you can try vitamins too.

Coolangot, nice thoughts there brad, your suggestion on drinking sustagen, I've considered it and instead of sustagen I've bought Milk instead (love milk). Vitamins, doc said to take 2 tablets of Vitamin C or ascorbic acid, one in the morning and one in the evening. Yup, your right about frequent but smaller servings of food. Right to the point there. brad, recipies I know with veggies are chopseuy, Fish with tomato soup (yung dalagambukid), adobong sitaw (currently served), I'll request for ginatang kalabasa and lastly (one of my favorites) lumpiang ubod... thanks for everything kris

or can i transfer the weight i'm trying to lose to you? been overweight for ages ;D ;D ;D pneumonia is a pretty common nasty disease but one you should be able to recover from just nicely. thing is much as you'd like to get back on the saddle immediately. try to take things gradually. your bodys' defense system is still coming up and ain't up to full form yet. so do mild exercises for the first few days or week... then the following week do something a little crazier... like riding a mountainbike up tagaytay again as much as your diet should have a higher protein content, do not overdo it... most of the items the guys have suggested would be great... as long as you could stomach it. a wide variety in your protein source should do the taste trick. muscles build up after use... so try not to eat to much too fast... excess calories in your diet would just be turned into fat... ahem ahem... guilty he he.. an increasing type of exercise e.g. walking... jogging... running... biking... swimming... wild thing wups would require increasing amounts of energy hence food..... so.. i therefore conclude..... eat more... when you exercise more so kelan tayo bike ulit? gutom na ko eh

what kind of body mass are we talking about here? Muscles? matagal yun plus your body might not take the stress yet If you just want to increase your weight, no need for excercise siguro. Rest your body muna and wait till it's stronger

Sirs, Another culprit has been identified lately this evening. The Doc said that the pneumonia has been cleared, but what was left is some fluid in my right lung, just a little bit of it. So tommorrow I'll get a chest X-ray (as always) and if the fluid moved just a little, I'll be admitted and the Docs would suck up the fluid in my lungs... If the fluid did not moved, I'll just take some treatment drugs and recover easily and happily. So wish me guys good luck, so I'll be able to ride with you guys again... Kris

brad... get well soon. This is a best time to recover with muscle instead of just gain weight back to your normal level. I agree with the guys/gals here eat lots of protain with low impact exercise(walking, swimming) after a week do weight around 40 -50% (squat, back, hamstring, crunch, bench press) with 10 minutes walking or trademail then gradually increase for the second week. Actually if you eat lots of vegetable and protain you don't need vitamins. Believe me the time to hit the trail you have lots of energy and motivation .

heal up first dude
job numero uno is recovery!
when you're all recovered already try starting a weight training program. slowly but surely work your way up building strength. when you start feeling that you've gone back to your old strength try going heavy, its the quickest way to get bigger.
right now, eat what you want. carbs are important when you're trying to get back to form so don't leave them out. healthy fat (fish oil, olive oil, etc.) is essential in recovery as well. protein intake can be added as you steadily regain your strength.
take it easy brother. its not how fast you recover, its how well you do.
