Ei guys, how do you deal with bothersome post-ride (chronic?) wrist aches/pain? The kind that resulted from taking too much bumps from downhilling or very rough, rocky trail; sudden, awkward swerves, small jumps and hops, etc. Dunno kung may sprain yung kamay ko from doing those things. Parang cumulative eh. Ngayon ko ata nararamdaman. It's now taking its toll on my wrists and hands. Failed to address the small symptoms

brad.. That's serious. I recommend you to relax for a while before start riding. Might have a ligament stress or tear (I hope not). Visit your doctor and request for x ray. THere is a alternative by using wrist support that you can buy from drug store. This will help prevent stressing the joint between your wrist and arm. Also to avoid lots of vibration you can change your handlebar with carbon. Carbon help absorved vibration. This might be to expensive in PI. Excercise also help. Good luck..

Get one of those wrist supports that has a velcro strap to let you tighten it so your wrist doesn't flex too much. I like the one made by LP. It's vailable at any Toby's shop.
Also, try applying a cold compress around the wrist after your ride.
If it's a serious injury, you'll have to do both the wrist support, cold compress AND avoid any further stress to the wrist while it heals. That means no biking or any activity that will require bending the wrist or gripping anything.
I had a wrist injury about a year ago. Had to stop riding for a week, wear my wrist support even at work, and apply the cold compress 2x a day before it healed enough to let me ride again.

you can also ease up your grip on the bars and stay loose over the rough stuff

Thanks guys for the suggestions! Will do. By the way, my left hand (my problematic hand, at present, is the right ) which took the brunt of a small, stupid spill i had a coupla months back suffered a sprain, swelling etc.. Unfortunately i wasn't able to address it right away (see the doctor and all) Obviously its healed now but somehow it feels weaker now than before. It's one of the reasons that i abrubtly stopped from working out in the gym. I know that i really should pay more attention to this things. D'ya think this could be solved by physical therapists and the like? I have long abandoned the practice going to the local hilot eh (yung nanay ko kasi nung bata pa ko dun kami dinadala pag may bali or whatever) Thanks again y'all

Avoid the manghihilot. My boss' wife had to go to the US for an expensive back (spinal column) operation after a manghihilot's treatment left her numb and paralyzed.

Ho about 'acupressure?' Anyone tried this to cure sprains and whatnot?

Sometimes the angles of the levers and the shifters can cause wrist discomfort. Small effect lang pero after a while it gets bigger. Try rotating the brake/shifter levers. The problem is trial and error to fine tune it.
