FRACTURES
Dont try to re-align it! Just immobilized or put some splint, cold compress, elevate the part and bring patient to nearest ER.
BLEEDING put direct presure on the wound( no torniquitte) and elevate, if severe bring the victim to hospital.

Collar bone: addition. Best on experience with fellow rider. Use one bike jacket to support the arm in 90 degree close to the chest and use another jacket wrap to the other shoulder tie to the back to avoid movement of the arm. Don't over tighten. Then call 911 for free helicopter ride "lucky". No. seriously its painful looking at the guys grim face with a bone sticking out (am I to graphic). The guy was in shock "shaking and pale". It took him 5 months in rehab.

Same thing happened to my exgf, went out downhilling one weekend with some of her friends, to think it was her first time to do DH (she's more on XC). The course was a typical international DH course which the trail is designed to get difficult as you progress down the hill...came to a portion where she faced large boulders which gave her a split second to decide go-stop, lacking experience and thinking she can clear it by increasing speed...she failed...broke her left collar bone in 3 parts.
Next thing I knew I got a phone from her call that she spilled and broke her "sakutso" that what they call collarbone in their tongue. She said she was unconscious in the trail for 20 mins luckily both buddies as just 10 mins away. Got treated by a clinic down the mountain and have her wear a brace for awhile.
Took her a month or so after surgery to get back on her bike... her 600cc ZZR ;D

will wearing a specific kind of body armor protect your collar-bone, seeing it is such a common injury? but sa mga na balitaan ko, its an injury more common to downhillers and freeriders... tama ba?

On a bad fall, the collar bone is usually the most vulnerable bone to break especially if you land sideways or when your initial reaction is to strech out your hands. One way to protect yourself from breaking your collar bone is to strengthen your deltoids, pecs and lats (upper body muscles) so the when on impact the muscles can absorb the force. Also one thing I learned when falling is to learn how to roll with the fall usually the fetal posture is the most easiest way to protect your head, upper body and also your extremities. Another is the judo roll, its a bit more technical but it really helps decrease the momentum and lessen the force of impact. Hope this helps
