I hope this thread would help us all in the application of basic first aid on different types of injuries encountered in our sport.
Also i cant help but seeing the injury of Gulliver hehe i want to post a cure for his sprain but I find it improper putting it inside the Weekend trail event.
Im not a doctor but had some units in Sports Injury Prevention and Rehab so I hope this helps, also baka medyo obsolete na rin ung technology ko so pls dont hesitate to correct me.
Sprain Injury
most sprains are caused by hyperextension of a process or joint, which causes strain on the Muscles, Ligaments and Tendons.
Prevention sa Sprain:
Proper Stetching before activity or workout, Stretching: Warms up the muscle group and joints, when it warms up, the muscles are more loose and can be stretched longer that the usual tensile level that it usually has, and the activity doesnt easily tear the muscle fibers. Although Ive heard that its not necesarrily have to be stretching, Im not sure kung obsolete na ito I heard from somewhere na its not necessary to stretch
you can warm up by slolwy performing the motion of the activity without straining the muscles until your muscles are loose. In talgalog wg mo lang bibiglain, dahan-dahanin mo.
Cure sa Sprain:
Usually once heperextended or flexed on an unatural angle the first aid that should be applied is a cold compress. This is to be done on the first 12 hours from injury time. Cold compress vasso constrict the veins which decreases the flow of blood, and prevents hematoma. Icecubes are usually used for this or if you can afford it you can get the portable freeze spray. Also the sprained etremity should be raised above the level of the heart, so kung na sprain and ankle try to lay down and lift you feet and ipatong sa seat or stool par alang mas mataas ang level nya from your heart.
After the prescribed 12 hours you can now use the Hot compress method, this method naman uses warmth to vasso dilate the veins, promoting better circulation and delivery of blood sa injured area. The circulation delivers the proper chemicals inside our body to cure the inury from inside.
Ok hope this helps, also for best practise browse the MD online andaming mga cure for sprains na mas madaling intindihin hehehe.
