Drinks lot of water, carbo and fruits (specially banana for potassium)day before the ride. One boiled egg and cup of coffee (with caffeine) half hour before the ride. Powerbar or gel, one hour to two hour on the trail.

Ako cereals with milk saka saging, minsan oatmeal kaso ang init kaya hirap ububsin, tinatanghali ako... so far ok naman pareho, when we start riding around 630, mga 10 bago ako makaramdam ng gutom.
Bikester, tinigilan ko na ang kamote pati patatas baka mahuli ako ng smoke belching eh hehehe

;D ;D ;D fullspeed, bikester...u ha! hehehe i've tried those power bars too (prefer the banana flavor) and they work well, medyo mahal nga lang. but buying it gives me a chance to see and flirt with my favorite GNC girl at megamall back to food... the reason i like the instant noodles is may carbo from the pasta, energy too from the corn kernels, and protein from the meat bits ...just now sure how healthy it really is. if i could get authentic, hot steaming Vietnamese noodles before a ride, i'd go for those straight away. dagdagan mo pa ng kape, ala eh, tayo na! ;D

I get optimal performance from a complete but light meal BUT should be eaten an hour before the ride. In a jiffy corn flakes with milk and a sandwhich will do. Egg good also.
During the ride I eat whatever I packed, cookies, graham crackers, granola bars, choloate, etc...

Allegra, This is my secret my losing weight. "Eat less excercise more".
To lose weight need lots of cardio or ride 2 to 3 times a week. If you have a roller, do spinning and go to the gym.
Weight gain is 70% coming from eating habits (unless from gene). Eat little snack every 2 hours (peanuts, crackers, juice and water... avoid soda and beer!!) and don't wait until you get hungry. If you wait until hungry, part of the brain cells tell you to eat and eat until your craving is over. I seen one article that a can of soda takes you to burn 20 minutes of cardio and thats a lot.
Try to avoid heavy carbo specially Kanin. It’s good fuel.. but if you don’t burn it turn to fat.
Before the ride. Eat and drink lots of water 1to 2 hour before the ride (boiled egg or cereal help) and eat every 1 to 2 hours (powerbar, gel, peanut, etc.) to fill the fuel you loose. After the ride drinks lots of water or sports drink(gatorage).
I'm been doing this for the last ten years and never gain weight. Actually recently I loose 5 lbs in a week when start doing more 2 hours (interval) spinning every other day.
Base on my height of 5' 9" with 150 lbs I think I'm on the range.
I hope this help...

If you do lots of riding eating bread was not bad, actually it will help (fuel). As soon as you burn what you put in.
Max, That cuase of stomach acid. this happen when your heart rate increases during exercise.

Eat atleast 4 hours before the ride or race para ma digest ang food. During increase activity digestive system slows down coz most of all blood supply goes to ur peripheral muscles. It will the best if ur stomach is 1/4 or half empty during rigorous activity or else masusuka ka. Energy food during the ride are ok coz they are designed easily to digest.

Amen... sometimes it depends on its rider. For me 24 hour before the race I start diggesting carbo, little amount of protain and drinks lots of lots of water(the draw back was always going to the bathroom). 2 hours before the race I eat oatmeal and glass of water. one to half hour before the big event, I eat one boiled egg and drink cup of coffee. This good for at least 1 hour of my engine running.

You're right, you can build your fuel few days before the ride, PLus it's an individualize approach, every person have its own rate of metabolism.

Carbo loading is ma must for me . especially before a race. our coach before insist us to do it. now I usually have Nes-Vita before a ride or work. But I drink a sip of water every 5 mintues thirst or not. If you feel thirst it's a bit late like your fuel gauge at empty.
I lost 50 pounds in 6 months by limiting my calorie intake. You can lost 1 pound by having a deficit of 3500 calories. I watched my intake of Calories by watching what I eat .
I limited to 1,500 calories a day then execerise worth 500 to 1,000.
my body needs 2,500 calories to simply mantain my weight. This depends on you weight the heavier you are the more calories you need. +1500 my Food intake -2500-My body needs -500 excercise ____________
-1500 deficit. I use tools to watch myself .
my Polar heart rate monitor which tells me how much calories I burned during my activity. My Diet power program which i a log my food intake. The program diet power will not only tell you how many caloreis you ate. but also your fiber vitamin RDA based on the food you logged. I just take mega men vitamins to supplment . and during sundays I call as off day which I can eat anything but not in excess

Bottomless water, no alcohol and at least an 8hr sleep b4 the ride day.
One hour b4 the ride, "deposit" first in the CR (less 1 kilo na! tanggal and air-lock) before refilling my big tummy with: Oatmeal with banana, honey, raisins and a cup of cofee + 2 glasses of water. Overweight pa rin ako but so far nakakahabol naman sa trail.
Sa trail, bayabas at camote for turbo power!

One hour b4 my ride, i take corn flakes with sliced banana, raisins and milk. During the ride i take either gu or powergel + gatorade. Supplements? I take this new herbal thing - VEGGILIFE. Works wonders for me, my sinusitis dramatically decreased and my cholesterol level is now normal.
