nell7806, this is OT but anyways, my brad lives in sunshine village somewhere dun sa hilly portion between Carmona and GMA. everytime we visit my brad's house we pass-by southwoods and turn right. a coupla meters after turning right i noticed the start of "very challenging" uphills stretch (with some recovery naman) all the way to where my brother lives. everytime we pass that portion, i have always dreamt of someday riding that stretch (around 2-3 kms yata) . why do i tell this? doing a regular run on this stretch may next time make yourself proud doing the cardiac, or perhaps, reverse palace ride (a real legs and lungs practice stretch) ride safe brad! sorry for the OT (can't help eh)

must be true...according to stats lots of bicycle accidents happen just a short distance from the riders house. i had 4 crashes here inside our village, 2 of them are major crashes ;D ;D ;D it is true, maybe its because of being overconfident when your near home or sometimes you're just totally wasted or you're too excited to get home n have that bottle of beer, right 'bee' ;D

I read it in a magazine that crashing is a given in biking. If you bike, you have to accept the idea that somehow, sometime YOU WILL CRASH. The odds may be different for each biker but it WILL happen to everyone sooner or later.
It is said that the longer it has been after you LAST crash, the nearer you are to your NEXT one. Its the law of probablity daw.
Of course, this doesn't apply to those who are reckless and deliberately temp their fate. In their case, their probabaility cycles are definitely shorter.

when we crashed, we learn to better respect the trails. We learn to be more carefull with ourselves. Most reasons why riders crash is they get carried away by the thrill. That goes for me too. I always get carried away and I am hoping not to deal with serious ones that will keep me from the most enjoyable sports activities I have ever had.

SORRY FOR THE OT...

I have many things learned from a crash. The first thing i learned was what is a speedometer used for, I was riding 15 km per hour when I hit the biker's mortal enemy (a tree). It's a good whay to have a face plant when you are not looking at your trail.

I learned that It's better to slow down in a race than to crash. Slowing down, you loose seconds, crashing, you loose minutes.

from my last crash i learned that when you get outbalanced, you should dismount from the side of your bike opposite the ravine or else you will be like me and see the sky and the grass in succession. huhuhu!
seriously... thank GOD it wasn't a high ravine.

Hi guys! I just came from trail riding at Daang-hari / PNP / Portofino offroads (the one at the rotonda) yesterday morning. I crashed twice with only 2 mins interval! ;D hehehehe! I'm using M520 clipless pedals and MP66 shoes. Ok so here goes... Crash#1:- I was attacking this single-track downhill section with a sudden uphill. As I was going uphill, I was caught off-guard and was at the wrong gear, so it was pretty hard to pedal uphill. I was not able to unclip. And so…..BOINK! I crashed on my butt and lay on my hydration pack. * Lesson learned = Anticipate and ensure proper gearing. 2 minutes later…..Crash#2:- Again this crash involves a downhill section. I was on attack-position as usual. Nothing really difficult with this section. But WADDUF! I looked back to my buddy behind me. What the hell was I thinking! ;D ….KABLAM! I again crashed on my right side on a dirt mound with small loose rocks. I used my shin to land and I got a flesh wound on my shin. * Lesson learned = Don’t be stupid and never look back while attacking the trail ;D and buy knee/shin guards

don't wear flip flops while biking... this is my 3rd accident on flip flops, not really a crash but still it hurt a lot... i never learn... this happened around 630pm, coming from atc i turned left to alabang zapote road... there was a car behind me so i hurried a little... stood up then SPRAKATOOOOM! my left foot slipped from the pedal... imagine 10-15kph then suddenly braking ALA FLINTSTONES, with your feet.. anyway my feet got dragged on the ground a few feet... luckily i was able to pedal a little more then stopped by the sidewalk... it was uber painful i rested while grimacing for about 15 mins, i think i sprained my left big toe... LESSON LEARNED: wear shoes even on short rides/errands

ouch! you think its gonna die? MOST PROBABLY... and to think it just resurrected a couple of months ago... SIGH!!! btw i pedaled all the way home using the heel of my left foot... not pedal efficient but it's ok as long as it's not very painful also...

A ride without an iffy-almost-crash is not a full throttle ride IMHO I try to learn how to have better handling skills by pushing myself ..loading turns in single tracks , taking the inner then outer lines to the apex specially downhill, cross ruts trying to bunnyhop em ... I mostly succeed but spills happen..full endos even It s best to learn to accept it ...try not to scream when you re flung off your bike..stay calm and your instinct and reflexes take over : land like Tony Hawk! One of my better bike flying memories: down Holy Trail we hit the fast dusty chutes and my rear wheel slipped and my bike turned and crashed unto a berm, I flew to the front right ...kept calm and just flew landed with my legs folded and kneeled to a stop ...Tony Hawk style baby ! I had the widest dust-filled smile ever Another was during my ummm 2nd ride to Maarat back in 2004 ..rode with Edmund M. ..first time down boygirl slope...went right down without stopping at the top...crazy but that s how I dealt with sticky situations back then dove into it ;D ...midway my front wheel got swallowed by the thick soft soil...a slowmo endo followed... I did ala Lito Lapid (ok ok Jess Lapid then) ..pushed myself back away from my bike ..reverse luksong baka ikanga... landed on my feet while my bike rolled 20ft and crashed ...I received some applause for that one heheh bottomline is: I get experience in many aspects of riding ..crashing just reminds me that Im pushing things a bit too much:) ride safe !
