I learned after a crash that if it hurts and it swells really bad, go get an xray right away. It could be a fracture. Also learned some basic physical therapy.

what i learned from a crash? hmmm.... i learned that pavement produces a more deeper wound than soil. hehehe...and if you crash on road, it's more embarrasing than crashing off road.

Not to do it again. ;D Crash happens most of the time on downhill. On off-road downhill, if it is steep and you're not comfortable just walk it. Walking is another option besides crashing.

What I learned from a crash...
1. Newbies do it so often starting out in the sport. 2. it's a part of the game. 3. Bikers have poor memories regarding pain. 3. You can be riding your regular route everyday. Then one day, somebody changed the terrain (by doing construction work) and you (the rider) being careless, don't see it until it's too late. You run off the road and...
CRASH!!!!
Moral of the story. I learn from a crash... is that sh*t happens.

one more thing... that the crash does not hurt. that brief instant of hitting the ground does not hurt. and sometimes, at first, you get no wounds... then after a while you see blood, then it all hurts a lot

i had been into a lot minor crashes lately (i think its a learning process for a 6-month old mt. biker) and what i learned are:
1. to improve my bicycle handling skills specially when doing technical (i.e. rocky and rut littered) downhills.
2. to improve on my braking control skills.
3. to be more wary in anticipating what is expected to happen and not pre-judge a situation into what we want it to happen.
4. to listen to my intuition more ( a couple of my light crashes happened when my intuition told me to walk the trail and yet i rode it )
5. to improve on how to do fast bike dismounts when trouble arises.
6. to improve on better speed control and turning skills when doing double-siko downhills on trails so as not to overshot the curb.

hmm...whenever i think i'm gonna crash, i'm gonna crash. that's why sometimes i got the feeling that what actually caused the crash was thinking that i'm gonna crash...nalalabuan nga rin ako eh. ;D
