hmmm.... braking is also being mastered... because its no use to full speed if you cant control it..

i use front and rear brake most of the time with equal force... but sometimes, i tend to squeeze the front more than the rear.

most of the people who commented on this thread said the front brakes should be the primary brake
but the polls say that people here like to use the rear brakes more
i know a lot of people, who, despite hearing that the general consensus is to use the front brakes more, are still afraid of using the front brakes
use both brakes. but push harder on the front brakes
it will be much better. i promise

i have this fear that using front brakes (at 30++kms/hr, flat or decend) will bring me into endo... one incident proved me wrong (decending on paved road at 40+km/hr)...
to overcome the fear, i do practice hard front braking on gradual speed increase... i can now do hard front braking at 15km/hr...just to build confidence, i intentionally submit the bike into going endo so that i know what to expect if i experience it during rides...
before it was all rear now its both, putting more pressure at the front later.......i expect front brakes would give me a better stopping result (without the endo!)
as you ride more, you learn more... ride always!!!

According to MBAction, front brakes are for stopping and using rear brake for stabling the bike. If you locked the rear brake, and skid it, it will make your bike wobble or it will be in sideways that you will never control it.
Mastering the front brake for stopping make you a better rider, your brake must be in good modulation.

lately while riding alot with the hakone boys, i've learned not to use too much of the front brakes. if you do trails and steep down hills, don't overuse the front brakes. or don't use it at all, unless stopping bike commuting, flats, and XC is a different story.

I use the rear brake to shave off speed, I use both to stop. I just replaced my rear brake pads, on the other hand, front pads still is in good condition.
