Hello,
fellow mountainbikers, magshare naman kayo ng skills/knowledge to our newbie and oldie w/newbie skills (like me) ;D riders on what to do sa mga technical section of pour rides.
Like for example, before I'm so chicken pag dating sa steep descending portion ng mga rides natin.
Kasi the harder you press your brakes the more chances na mag lost control ang pag manuever mo.So far effective naman, what I do is,pa pitik pitik lang ang rear brakes para di masyado mabilis ang descend.Of course you have to be relax and don't panic.
Ang galing talaga ng Asian Idol natin, ;D thank you brad applause, applause, applause, ;D.

Going down on steep hill with lot of roots and loose rocks diyan malimit ang crash. This are the things I do. Lower the saddle a little. Pedal is at 3:00 o'clock and 9:00 o'clock. Butt up and more to the backend of the saddle, to put more weight to the back. Arm straight but relax. Brake that's right, papitik pitik lang huwag bibiglain. Your bike tire route always choose a flatter surface in between or on the side of rocks and roots. Avoid ruts always if you can. There are some very steep hills that you have to do your Hail Mary, use no brakes and just guide the bike. On those situation if your not familiar with the terrain, and don't have enough experience, walk-a-bike is a better option. Lastly, be sure your bike is mechanically sound or else get yourself an Enduro . Gulli can tell you more.

Tips... pretty general.
1. Ride low (especially downhill parts) 2. wear protective gear--pads (gives you more confidence) 3. think of your safety not your bike's 4. ride as many trails as you can--practice 5. know and trust your parts 6. read magazines and other sources and apply knowledge 7. read somewhere that sometimes its better to ride the rut than stirring out of it. (works for me.) 8. watch videos or better yet other folks when you ride. find something great about that rider then emulate. 9. Check your bike before and after rides, especially brake pads. 10. Pray before you sleep. ;D

I'm not very skilled sa mga descents so what I do is pick a co-rider ahead of me whom I follow while keeping my distance.
kung baga follow the leader. ;D

progression! start with something that u can handle and keep pushing yourself little by little while gaining confidence at every level. we all started small. it's funny when u look back and see a section where u use to walk or freak and now don't even notice it anymore.
practice practice practice. get your buddies to spot you while u do a section/stunt. gives u a bit of a confidence booster that some1 may be able to stop your descend (in case).

OMG! Ned overend is a fossil brothers like tom ritchie and the forefathers of downhill mtb............its a good intro to DH mtbiking but its been 15 yrs and a lot has changed in regards to handling and technical riding. Sabi nga ni Kumpare edmund "if u cant take the heat get out of the sun!" id rather die trying if u know what i mean........ There is nothing better than learning it first hand, and applying it.......Kasi mahirap talaga matuto pag wala magtuturo......U can learn from videos yes but thats different when someone is actually teaching you first-hand di ba? So please if ur gonna teach be sure u urself can do it na..... "To Make others believe you, you have to make a believer out of yourself first."

Ok , pinaka pain in the butt para sakin RUTS! Pinaka nakaktakot for me beside the endo is pag nag shoot ang front wheel sa rain ruts. How do DH'ers handle that?
|
|
|
Post by REDNEB on Jan 5, 2005 0:39:47 GMT 8
Same goes for rock ruts(Ano yun?). Novice riders prefer to ride rut lines, kaya lang mas madalas ang kalat mo. kc pag nag rut riding ka kelangan u hav enough speed to clear and aim your front tire inside the rut or else.... ;D Saka reminder dont try using your front brake inside a rut iw would be very harmful to you...........

Yup nakakatakot talaga at first ang rut riding, but compared sa: pilit ka ng pilit to stay on 1 side n keep urself out of the rut which you would eventually fall into rin........let it slip inside and put some speed para maka rail-in yung front and rear mo............. once you get the hang of it sarap na kahit maulan, maputik, mabato or puro ruts talaga yung trail and everybody would say "Howd he do dat?" hihihihihhi...... ;D Practice.
