Agree 120 percent... I rather clip in all the time for better control. If you clip out parang you're separated to the bike.

I just started riding clipless last July ... Chinaman is the reason for that! Ang kulit kasi. Now, I can't seem to ride without being clipped in. In fact, last Saturday, we went down the wawa singletrack trail to the river. It was a long meandering downhill and I was riding it blissfully clipped in until that awful rut ... hey! I am still alive and I really don't blame the clipless. It was my fault for going to fast and slip sliding along... but it was really fun while it lasted ;D So whatever the terrain, I still prefer riding clipless

ako naka clip mas panalo mas may control. at saka madulas din pedal ko kaya kailangan naka clip sa trials ba naka clip sila? Ako, dapat sabihin ko clip on parati pero nakakatakot pag sobrang steep at technical. sure may control, pero my clipless peds have been responsible for 50% of new peklats sa katawan ko Di nako flawless

I'd like to be clipped on all the time for better control pero minsan talagang nakakapraning - buti na lang I use pedals na yun kalahati platform, pero dumudulas din. Lately, nagsusuot ako ng knee/shin guards kaya mas madalas na ako mag clip on kahit sa trails... it improves my confidence knowing na may konting protection yun mga tuhod at legs ko... asset ko kasi sila eh

learn to clip on.... helps you control your bike. you will experience the falls, but if you had one, you will make it a point not to make that fall again, then you will learn.
sabi nila lahat about downhill to clip in is true, mas delicado na lumusot ang paa mo going to the ground while downhill making your shin hit the pedals then endoing. that is total disaster. Unless of course you are full metal jacket body complete.
try to adjust the tightness of the pedal clips to your most easiest movement to bail out, then you will be able to adapt to it.

...hmmm, lately isip ko, pag familiar na ako sa isang specific trail, at di na ako kapa-kapa sa climb, siguro puede clipless all the way BUT, tulad nang sinabi ni allegra, pag masyadong technical na, tapos steep na steep pa, hahanapin ko na platforms ko hehehe

Most professional downhiller naka clip for better control and acceleration. I been using clipless and not thinking of goin back to flat pedal ( but wait, am using flat right now?.. kailangan lang talaga sa icy trail) yeah! with clip on pedal you're using every muscle in ur leg which can make more round/effective pedalling stroke. saka na isipin ang semplang pag sumemplang na!

clipped in for me. tried clipping out sa makiling while going downhill kaso lalo lang akong kinabahan dahil wala akong control sa bike. tama si paul, lower the tension of the pedal clips to the point where you can bail out easily. but not too much ha. baka kada padyak naman natatanggal. did that when i was new to clipless... well, it stayed that way till now. nasanay na ko e. baka paghinigpitan ko, mahirapan lang ako.

dudes i'm not sure if you are aware of it, but there are 2 kinds of cleats available for spd pedals... single release and multiple release. yung single release (color black) yung standard that comes when you purchase a pedal and as the name implies one direction lang (heel out left or right) ang pagdisengage. Multiple release naman(SM-SH55 color silver) releases almost any direction (even paharap)na i-jerk mo yung foot except yung upward pulling motion of pedaling. ok for technical stuff, such as downhill or city riding where you may have to make a sudden stop or dab your foot to prevent a fall. Have been using these kinds of cleats for over 4 yrs na .....wala naman masyadong problema ...also setting the release tension on low helps

ako i clip on my right foot only and di naka clip yun left ko pag downhill hehehehe mas comfortable ako sa ganoon eh and at least isang paa lang inaalala ko, sa pag dismount right, sa pag weight distribution left and i think it works for me... phobia na ako pag naka clip on dalawang paa ko eh dami nang semplang eh
going uphill dalawang paa na clip on mas may puwersa eh... yun lang po

Ako, dapat sabihin ko clip on parati pero nakakatakot pag sobrang steep at technical. sure may control, pero my clipless peds have been responsible for 50% of new peklats sa katawan ko Di nako flawless Same Here........0 mph na tumba o slow turns na semplang exists... .....after installing 520's spd parang lagi akong may kaba o takot tumumba palagi...... feel ko mas smooth pa ako nun naka flat pedals pa ako balancing at mga descents....... sa akyatan at on-road, both feet clip-in, 100% sya effective at energy efficient......pag off road descents pag sketchy at steep un clip minsan nilalakad ko na lang...... sabi nga ni domz.....mas maige daw na isang paa unclip kesa sa both unclip..... follow the leader kase ako eh......most of the grp, rides 100% clip in.... still awed kapag kita ko clean nila mga technical stuffs....on a 1.95 tires\hardtail\ spd pa.....

you know, parang nasa mind-set lang talaga nang isang tao kung alin ang mas bagay sa kanya...mag-clipless man o hinde... platforms and clipless both have advantages and disadvantages and don't think either one is necessarily better than the other. but i don't compete so others may have a different opinion. sa level ko lang, i like both and depending on conditions and familiarity of the trail, i will choose one, sometimes the other.
what's important is, whatever your style or preference is, use whichever one helps you enjoy the ride more ;D ;D ;D

para sa akin clip in mas ok, presence of mind lang cguro and reflex wag magpanic relax lang pag magrereleased sa pedals, confidence din ang kailangan kasi pag inisip nyo sesemplang kayo pag naka clipless lalo lang kayo sesemplang ;D

i use multi-release cleats and set my pedals to their lightest release setting.
