What do you think is the best road wheelset in the market right now?
Best can be "the best bang for the buck", or simply the best regardless of price. If you would rather have a custom/hand built set, what is the best hub-spoke-rim combination for you?

those mavic ksyriums seem to be the best all around wheels. they're durable, light enough for racing and good looking as well. i wish i could afford them.
from personal use, i've been using a-class alx-320 dx wheels for around 2 years now. they were pretty affordable (P8k), pretty light, not bad looking and durable as well. i haven't had to true them yet and the bearings are still great.

american classic cr-420 or 350 ..light and affordable.. For me, this is the best because its reliable, easy to maintain, all around wheelset,fast/good for climbing and reasonably priced.A little bit old style but it works good.

american classic...like the hubs+cassette...it has this campy characteristic sound...john wilkie has this set for 15k ... dont know if this is the older version....(saw it a long time ago) ... he said sumthing about being "matagtag" (if a heard it right...or matatag!) under our road condition...he's using one with his bike but i guess he just playing devils advocate coz i want to get one....but review all critics and user, it's very reliable and durable
d best mavic ksyriums for climbing yet very expensive unless u can get a second hand buy
im using shimano wd r540 low spoke wheelset ... got it 8.5k dati ... been using it for about 2 years now ...made in malaysia ... had only one realignment the time a bought it .... up to now the rims are still aligned....been through maarat-boso-boso via a racer, kaliraya, bataan highway..very reliable

I would recommend the american classic. Btw im currently using a zipp 303 big difference from my old axl rims - less tagtag. Axls are also okay, had no problem with it.

kala ko ba regardless of price ksyriums are about P40-80k (there are different models). i wouldn't recommend American Classics as an everyday wheelset because i know a lot of people who have had the bearings fail on them, including the road wheelsets. aside from that, the rims ding easily (thewalls are very thin), and the cassette body gets damaged easily (bacause they're also alloy, instead of steel). perhaps if you're light (say below 140lbs) they might be ok. it's too bad because they're really light, but i'd rather pay less for a heavier albeit more reliable wheelset. there are a lot of good wheelsets below P10k including the A-Class wheels i mentioned above, and from Shimano and Xero, and recently Mavic. Mavic introduced a new model, Aksium, that's fairly light, kind of look like the Ksyriums and are pretty affordable at aroun P8-9k. a lot of roadies i know have bought a set as training wheels, saving their higher end stuff for the races.

If you can fork out the money, go for the Topolino Revelation C19, not quite as light as The American Classic Sprint 350's but no rider weight limit, and lighter than the Ksyrium SL's and more durable. Oh yeah, and the drool factor is higher.
