I know it's just a prologue but Jan did poorly in this one: 4:50 vs. Savoldelli's 4:27.

yes. Lance predicted Ivan Basso would be the next yellow jersey winner. He's been going strong every year, last year he finished second overall.

bobby julich's ride now i got a closer look of Julich's oval cranks. hehe it was said that it would eliminate the "dead spot" when pedalling.

Those seat tubes are more aerodynamic plus gives more leverage sa accelration or maybe it's just marketing But there's must be a good reason Riis handpicked cervelo for Bassos duels w/ lance

Apparently Jan cut his hair. He 80th after the TT, which was very short. Just 0.49 seconds away...no worries...

Lot's of them do it everytime. That is why everybody is not as strong as Armstrong when he was winning. Armstrong doesn't do a major race before the Tour. I think he doesn't even do any of the spring classics. He just concentrates only on Tour de France.
E. Merckx won 2 or 3 Giro and Tour on the same year, before. That was when road bikes are heavier and Tours are longer. I think M. Indurain also won 2 Giro and Tour on the same year (maybe 1992 & 1993).

It's the TdF everybody is after Even teams like CSC , magpapakamatay to have a yelow jersey , what more to win the biggest bike race Pero , idol ko rin si Merckx , he would have won 6 TdF's if a fan didnt punch him in the liver. I think all the races he won finally took a toll on him

Everybody who trains in macro cycles knows that they have 1 peak performance at his best. And everybody knows that you can't regain peak performance in just 1 month from a major race. Giro is in May that has 20 stages...TdF is in July which also has 20 stages or so...It's impossible to completely recover from this..
Racing Giro before TdF is certainly not a liability...but it has a great effect on performance it will not be your best... if somebody who race Giro that has 20 stages will race against a fresh guy who timed his peak performance on TdF...Who do you think will win?...
For some, why do they do it? Why don't they just all rest and go up against one another on Tdf?
Because to some racers...its not just 1 race...its being the toughest of the breed...those who win on both in a season to them is the greatest ever...

uy , nasa chapter din ako nyang macro cycles na yan ni Lemond! hehe I'd say obsession ni bjarne riis to win a TdF as a manager so is Basso at ulrich etc Everybody wants to beat armstrong including yung director ng TdF na kaaway ni Lance hehe I believe ( IMO lang ha ) they'll do everything manalo lang ng TdF Toughest? Who among the current crop of pro cyclists is as tough as armstrong? Mabigyan lang ng "the look" , tiklop sila e

,lLet me know if Lemonds book shows that you can achieve peak performance in 2 major race (both with 20 stages) with just 1 month of rest, in between, to full recovery...I think its impossible..
Yup everybody in the cycling community outside US wants Armstrong to lose because he was arroganntly advertise...If Armstrong was tough he could have race Giro then everybody would shut up...and he could have earned the respect of his competitors.
Why did the world never knew Simoni, Savoldelli, Garzelli,...etc...Because they were not that advertise...It's quite humbling...
In the cycling community, Armstrong was just there going for the kill on guys who are spent already from the previous race. And the world believe that was great (aren't we mislead? IMO).
I respect Armstrong fight against cancer. But road racing is another story and I respect him for his achievements and his dedication to TdF. But not cycling greatness...others, far deserve it better because they really work hard for it and fought every battle needed to achieve greatness. That's honor of a true warrior.
Armstrong have great respect for Basso because he was able to keep up with him despite Basso came from Giro the prevoius month. I believe if Basso was fresh for TdF, He would have beat Armstrong...And if Ullrich was not pig headed and trianed hard he would have also beat Armstrong...Well but its not the case...Armstrong had the dedication.

TdF is the toughest race on two wheels and two legs, and 7 wins done by Armstrong is an extraordinary feat
here's my two cents:
it's time someone wins the TdF, and a few other classics; wouldn't hurt to get Paris-Roubaix and be the well rounded cycling hero the way Merckx had established himself to be.
sorry but it shouldn't be just the TdF

We'll have to agree to disagree IMO, if anyone else had any hope of beating Armstrong ,. the would have skipped the previous races. The thing is , they are scared #$%less of armstrong IMO lang yan , because I only base my opinions on the things I'vre read - - Chasing Lance and mag articles about Basso,Riis and the CSC I didnt say he was the best cyclist ever but I doubt he won because the opposition was weak
