Hi Peeps,
Had an elbow injury while biking 2 years ago so I decided to take a rest for a while. Recently, I'd like to go back to biking...
My first bike was a Giant Talon 4,,, pansin ko sa trail medyo alog alog ang tunog ? heheh then I sold it.
2nd bike was a Cannondale 4 -- very good looking bike, Enjoy ako. Pero have to sold it coz na amaze ako sa Rocky Mountain
3rd bike.. Rocky Mountain Soul ... have a blast with this bike , event went to Baguio, Tarlac Monasteryo, etc... till I had an accident.
But those times, almost road yung biyahe ko.. but this time, if bibili ako bike, Im planning puro trail.
but with limited budget. probably 15k-20k.
Question is, are bike on this price range good for trail ? Probably heroes and lame eco shed. Are they safe enough ?

Lemme tell you this even entry level bikes are okay for the trails you mentioned, but you'll have to change a few things. but with your budget, yeah, you can get a mix of entry and mid level components at that price. Wala lang ako idea ngayon kasi 'di ako tambay ng bike shop, ha ha.

Thanks sir Anthrax... limited budget for now. I'd like to go back slowly to biking and bike to work.
What is the first thing I need to change for trail ride ?

Following this thread. Hmmm...

hmm...that depends on what bike you're going to get.
on the top of my head, entry level bikes would most likely bust the pedals and/or brakes first. Some built bikes come with plastic pedals. Some come with brakes where you can't buy replacement pads. You might also want to change the fork as they might not have any adjustment at all. Probably the saddle too, depending on how fit it is to your gluteus maximus and sit bones.

Thanks for the tips sir Anthrax.
Btw, what do you think about Trinx H1000 carbon bike ? Any feedback ?

Trinx is a known brand naman...pero carbon at that pricepoint? he he he. cheapest na made in China pero pasado sa quality control na carbon frames, unbranded nga lang...frames lang ha, was going around for 20K++

May bagong labas ngayon ang Foxter 306 model. Hydraulic brake and alivio components na din around 12k ata.

buy an entry-level bike and replace/upgrade parts if they break down or it surpasses your abilities

Hi Sir,
Your past MTBs were all branded and were entry to mid levels bikes. Am afraid that you will be disappointed and look for the comfort that you used to have if you will buy a 15-20k priced mtbs. I think you already know the fitting and your riding styles. Go around bikeshops, am sure you will find some set-up that would fit your taste.

Mga sir.. fortunately... medyo nagka budget ako and I can buy an entry level full sus bike or old 2nd hand used.
My question is, should I go to 26er or 27 or 29 ?
I noticed mura ang mga 26er

Maraming nagbabagsak ng 26er especially mga 2nd hand. I think they're all switching to 27.5 or 29er. Yung PH market saka mga LBS kasi, they're not stocking 26er wheels na. I think I saw a post dito regarding that.

So should I stay away with 26er ? Sayang.. kase for my budget... some of them naka Fox na. hehe
Prob is, my budget is for entry level full sus.. looking at the shops, parang medyo dehins ok yung fork ng mga entry level.

That's true. I often find myself contemplating on whether to pull the trigger too. Best if you can check some LBS's nearest you and see if they still keep stocks on what you may need if you end up buying the bike, and if they can service the suspensions, maintenance or repair-wise.

How to spot lousy suspension design by the way ?

Stance, i belive, is single pivot. i haven't seen it, a friend just told me. too lazy to google in the morning.
GT has always been i-drive, unless they changed to a new one, is a heavily modified single pivot/URT.
well since, those are your choices, you're pretty much okay.

Is a single pivot / urt a bad thing?
What should I look for a suspension design?

Marami na suspension designs minsan maliit lang difference. Merong wiki ng bike suspension designs. Basta dehins URT, you're good.

Yung Maestro ng Giant at I drive ng GT ang medyo convincing for me.

he he, marami pa yan kaso yung iba dehins na available dito. I've always loves Spez's FSR and the single pivot of Mountain Cycle, unfortunately MC is out of the market.

Guys question...
I have an fs trail bike purchased few days ago but Trail is not that accessible to me on weekdays due to work schedule.
I live in a subdivision with vast paved roads at my disposal.
If I would like to bike everyday, is it ok to use my fs trail bike? Or buy a cheap yet quality ht mtb like foxter or trinx?
Marami naka fs sa village namin pero its rare I see them biking using it. Nakikita ko lng sila lumalabas during weekends. Either naka rack or tow hitch. Hehe

Pffft who cares how and where you use it? I've had 3 fs setups that never saw a decent trail ha ha.
