but we are all driven by emotions mahirap makatulog when yur been staring at the 105 10 My advice , go with the 2005 9sp ultegra baka same price lang Fafa fullspeed , gastosan mo na yan this is our passion Nagtipid ako sa roadbike ko , should have gone for the ultegra 10 , so ngayon I'm mentally kicking myself Upgrading later is even more expensive brad Get the best you can afford and you'll cry only once

but we are all driven by emotions mahirap makatulog when yur been staring at the 105 10 True! This is why I don't visit bike shops unless I really have to buy replace a broken or worn-out part. No window-shopping for me. Don't visit product websites either. Just forums. (I'm prefectly happy with 2-year old D-A 9.)

yup 10sp is overkill (even though I have it on my latest road bike). I don't even own anything 9sp. The old trek roadie is 8sp and when I wanted climbing gears I've installed a mtb derailleur and cog and it shifts without any problem. Unless you're a very competitive crit racer, a 10sp just isn't a necessary upgrade.

There's not much difference between the 9 and 10s except the extra weight (cog) and looks. If you have a 9 speed Shimano mountainbike, buying a 9 speed road groupset has the advantage of interchangeability with your mountainbike like the chain and the cogset for a start. Just my view.

Aman - thanks sir but I have my eyes set on the 105 10spd grupo, due to staring everyday on the shimano website how's your roadie project going? let's all ride when our bikes are built Sworksmike - adik! Fullspeed, All of them are right.. Ako kasi, it took me a long time of waiting, thinking and budgeting before i consider of what i will buy, just maybe Im avoiding future or any upgrades and this will take you more spending. My target date of completion is before the holyweek. This is my setup: Frame/Fork = Trek SL sz50 Gruppo = Shimano 5600 series Wheelset = Shimano 560 Stem, seatpost and Handle bar = Bontrager Tire = 700x26(no tire yet) Pedal = No pedal yet (Speedplay chromo or ultegra) Seat = USPS color selle italia Jersey = 2003 USPS Gray kit(centenial version) ;D ;D

Owen,
Go for it dude! The 105 10's looks really sweet! I started out w/ a 105 9s, then after a couple of months, a friend upgraded to Ult 10's so he sold me his Ult 9's, i immediatedly felt the difference in shirfting, it was smoother & sounded better. I now have upgraded to Ult10's and though the difference in shifting is hardly noticable for the 9's, I found that the 10's graduations in gearing provided better pedalling efficiency in that the load changes in the pedals are not so abrupt. The minute increase/decrease in pedal loads when in tune w/ a HRM really makes a big diffence when you want to slacken off or increase your HR by a few beats. No wasted energy as you only shift to the gear you need.
Hope to see you on the roads!
Ramon

remember guys, get a right fitting frame! Nga pala, Compact frames ( sloping top tube ) are more maneuverable, rigid , flex less and lighter , but also matagtag and mabuay w/c you will find out when you ride drunk hehe Traditional frames more comfy and alot more forgiving on long rides but can be flexy I think the younger guys like the compact frames and oldies prefer the trditional Di ko na lang sabihin what my frame is hehe
