nakakatakot din talaga kasi mag trail lalo beginner pa ko haha kabog dibdib ko kapag technical na like drops and cornering at medyo downhill... isa pa bonus tip na din kapag uphill para tumagal po stamina and mas makalayo naman po ng akyat... salamat po.

Para sa trail techniques, its better find someone na may experience para makita mo personally paano nila ginawa sa trail. iba rin kasi kung manood lang tayo ng youtubes videos. ika nga, expectation vs reality. at sa ahon eh practice makes perfect. find a route na beginner friendly. like going up antipolo during weekends. set your on pace na meron ka pitstop or resting point. until ma build mo yung stamina mo dehins ka na hihinto at ma diretso mo ng walang dismount. and proper use of gearing din, umpisa ka sa granny(smallest ring sa harap) at iadjust mo na lang sa cogs sa likod or kahit na i sagad mo sa largest cog mo. then pag nasanay ka na sa ahon. try mo na din sa mid ring gamitin sa ahon. basta set your own pace. hayaan mo lang na marami talaga mag overtake sayo sa una.

dh and uphell are 2 different evils at their extremes. in between them are other tech features such as drops, berms, flat cornering, rock, roots, ruts, etc...
in it's most basic, you have to learn to stand while coasting and pedalling and maintain this position for a considerable length of time even you ride FS. train yourself to look far and not stoop down on your front tire, handlebar or anywhere near you.
and when it comes to standing, you have to be able to separate bike movement from your body. get low and i mean low without bending your lower back! riding off road is a dynamic movement and you should not go with your bike - manage your bike movement and don't let the trail move you around. be active, move your arms and legs while maitaining a stable core. be central on bike no matter what while maintaining weight on your feet specially when braking. in unsupported turns (flat cornering), lean your bike and be upright. on supported turns (berms) 'you may' lean with the bike given ample speed.
... and don't do anything s2p!d that is beyond your skill. the pro riders you see on videos have given their life to the sport (and may be years ahead of you) so give yourself the justice of taking things slow.

Ride with a group. Observe proper trail etiquette. Also, check the trail level (beginner, expert, or mamaw). Saan mo balak magtrail ride?

hi sir kona, actually ive tried bluezone, eastridge, and the parawagan-pintong bukawe loop, ok naman experience kasi naturuan niyo naman ako ni sir anthrax sa sessions, its just that i dont feel safe during downhill and some tight turns...😁 any tips to conquer my fears? in both cases the textbook position is to get low and i mean down low - if you think you are already low, think again maybe you still aren't (trust me). in a dh section the position should be as if your back is already parallel to the ground when viewed on a flat surface. on a downhill slope, move further back 'a bit' while still remaining central on the bike - by 'a bit' i mean it's very small. this is contrary to the belief that you should move back and put your weight on the back wheel - never move back on the rear wheel unless you want to know how an OTB feels like. this is more pronouced for FS rigs as the loading the shock will be like loading a spring to throw you further forward. again be central on the bike. as for tight turns, yea it's a bit tricky as you have to remain upright while the bike leans. the old knowledge of lean where you want the bike to go will just bring you down the ground. lean the bike, rider stay upright. drive force on the outside foot. in almost all situations the weight should always be driven down to the pedals. your arms on the bars are just there to guide (not turn). how do you know if you are too forward? - palm pressure. how about if you're too far back? - finger pressure. i see you know and have gone to timberland. you went to the bluezone but didn't mention the basic and the green trail . try beating the h*ll out of the basic trail to train yourself with offroad uphill and downhill. yes i know it's the famous basic trail in that area, but have you tried to really push it hard? if you didn't try it, i'm pretty sure you'll get to pick up a lot from this humble section. the basic trail is pretty wide with 'a lot' to do - did you intentionally stayed away from the loose randomly sized rocks? did you try traversing the rutted sections and tried to get out of it? did you choose a smooth section and didn't bother with those that may cause you to fall? as for the green, there's a ton of switchbacks there both uphill and downhill where you can practice with. try doing this section over and over again in one visit. tbh, these switchbacks still beat the sh!t out of me specially the uphill ones. sessioning trail sections is boring and not fun, but this is where you develop skill through muscle memory (ie repetition). in terms of safety, i have to admit i feel safer on the trails compared to when i'm biking on my way to the trails and back home via paved roads shared with other vehicles. images taken from betteride.net

Marami kang makuhang tips sa youtube Brad, pero kailangan mo pa rin i-practice at more saddle time para ma-improve ang iyong reflexes lalo na pag dating sa trail.
