you can see the style of the 2 riders, Lance being the master of spinning, and Jan being a gear masher.

And to think lance armstrong is only 2 seconds behind the yellow jersey. Oh, that's gotta hurt! That's why in one of the sports column the headline reads: Tour De France: Armstrong wants yellow again Tuesday, July 05, 2005 By Jerome Pugmire, The Associated Press

lance wants to finish in yellow, he made that clear, since this will be his last TdF. oh and his motivation is that his kids are in Paris this year, unlike last year when he won the 6th. guys, i visit www.velonews.com, fyi

too bad zabriskie took a spill 1.5 km away from the finish of the TTT. he's going to hurt badly in the next stage.

yeah, i was kinda hoping they'd make it, imagine only 2 second lead by discovery. Armstrong and Zabriskie could have equal time, only measured in hundredths of a second to find out who would wear the yellow jersey.

From my experince He will let go the yellow jersey because protecting the yellow jersey will wear him out and his team. he will let other teams try to get it and let them get tired protecting it. He will make the move in the mountains again. I hate ESPN or Solar Sport digest coverage. I always watchthe TDF on French TVE5 on cable Skycable full coverage lasting 2 to 4 hours depending on the stage. They cover it at 1am Philippine time. Yes they speak in French but it's the cycling I want

agree with jr and dasaint
i don't even understand why there is press release by the DSC camp that there is still discussion if they will defend it from here to the mountain stages, it'll wear LA out.
part of their strategy perhaps....
jr:
no OLN here unfortunately, and like dasaint, i watch it over at TVE 5, channel 88 destiny cable. when supersport is available, much better (around the same time din channel 42) because the commentaries of phil liggett and paul sherwin are topnotch!

dasaint, yeah, most likely Lance will let go of the jersey in the flat stages. although Vinokourov is only 1:07 behind him, hmm.....it's gonna get interesting in the mountain stages. Kloden, Ullrich (maybe) and Vino from T-Mobile might all attack, then there's Basso from CSC. Landis might also be a threat. 1:00 for the broadcast? delayed telecast, if i'm not mistaken we're about 6 hours advanced from France. I like the short format, although I'm only able to watch about 20 minutes of the action. I get my updates from the internet though

it is delayed sir if it was like live should be showing it here about 4 PM in the evening
looks pretty live to me with static but its the length of coverage I like. It would be beneficial for him to have another team to protect the yellow jersey Vino is a too strong a rider to take chance with IHMO. Maybe a team whose star is a sprinter so to pose no threat in the mountains or TT. but whose team will try to protect the yellow jersey for a time to increase the media milage for their team.
But then again he could give it to Vino which will cripple Jan Ulrich because he cant attack his own team mate in the mountains.

As predicted Lance give the yellow jersey today. this is what they wanted to get least pressure to the team...yesterday ge got attacked in both direction and his teammates was not around. But the way ride still a favorate to take the yellow jersey..
Go lance..

Yup he was isolated to think it was just a CAT 2 climb hopefully his white and blue bodyguards be there in the mountain stages. The Pink squad really tested him in the Vino and Jan tried to play cat and mouse with him but then again Lance overcame them answering every attack.

Kloden however still went on leaving Ullrich and Vino behind. Three pronged attack is what T-Mobile wanted to do. If they can isolate Armstrong and the three of them attack one by one, I think they can wear him out. Unfortunately Discovery guys are now working together again.

sad news, TdF fans:
OLN Fires Phil Liggett
Paris, July 5 (Reuters) - Outdoor Life Network today severed its contract with Phil Liggett, a perennial favorite cycling announcer both in England and in the United States. A spokesperson for Outdoor Life Network said, "We regret having to let Phil go, but he knew the terms of our agreement when he signed on. Namely, he is required to allude to Lance Armstrong three times per minute, with at least one of those mentions being by name. Most importantly, at no point in time shall forty seconds ever elapse without a mention of Lance Armstrong."
"Today, sadly, Mr. Liggett broke the terms of that agreement. When David Zabriskie had his unfortunate accident today, Phil failed for 40 seconds to put it in the context of whether this would impact Lance Armstrong or whether Lance Armstrong would would have fallen, or asking what Lance Armstrong must be thinking about this accident right that moment."
When reached for comment, co-commentator Paul Sherwin said, "I had my 'Lance Stopwatch' going -- it's what we use to help remind us when it's time to mention Lance again.†Continued Sherwin, “When Zabriskie fell, Liggett started actually talking about how disastrous it was for the rider, instead of -- as is proper -- talking about this would affect Lance and how he would no doubt have words of advice on the proper way to ride a bicycle for young Zabriskie. When twenty seconds elapsed, I signaled to the timer. Then thirty seconds elapsed -- still no mention, so I made the sign of the Texas Longhorn, the code we use to signal that we need to immediately divert the conversation toward Armstrong. Still nothing.
Visibly shaken, Sherwin finished, After forty-five seconds, Phil managed to bring the conversation back round to Armstrong, but by then it was too late. OLN Security was knocking at the door, ready to escort Phil from the premises.
Interviewed in his hotel room in Paris, Liggett looked like a man who has lost his best friend. I'm a huge fan of Armstrong, said Liggett. I haven't pretended to be impartial for years. But between Bob Roll and that marionette Al Trautwig, our Armstrong-centricism seemed pretty well covered, and I suppose I briefly let my guard down. I wonder what Lance Armstrong thinks about that? Then, realizing the habit of mentioning Armstrong even when completely irrelevant was still with him, Liggett briefly looked melancholy -- which is the British equivalent of an American having a complete nervous breakdown.
OLN has moved swiftly to replace Liggett, putting former color-commentator Al Trautwig in his spot. Said Trautwig regarding his promotion, Lance Armstrong. Lance Lance Lance Armstrong. Armstrong Armstrong Lance Lance Lance Lance. Six-time Tour de France winner. Lance Armstrong Lance Armstrong, Lance Armstrong.
This is going to work out just fine, said the OLN spokesperson.

Hey, A mountain biker is leading the king of the mountains err... I think Yup. Micheal (or Mikael) Rasmussen, 1999 World Mt.bike champ, formerly of Gary Fisher-Saab. Makes you a bit proud eh? But in the interviews i've read about 'em I think he gave little credit to his fattire experiences and glory, saying mt.biking has no real direction right now and will not get huge (except for the masses) or something like that. he doubts too if he'll ever compete in a dirt race again for road racing is where it's at, adding that it's "the F1 of the cycling world." being a 'pure climber' has really paid off for him and now he's living his childhood dream. he's no.4 right now and is aiming for bigger things
