Yesterday's TTT was great! Did you see how George gave Lance the thumbs up, and the huge grin on Lance's face as they crossed the finish line? A picture-perfect performance from the USPS team! Go, Lance! And Go Tyler, too! To his credit, he pushed his team to the limit and got 2nd despite losing half his squad in crashes early on. True the posties really dug deep for their team leader but starting last gave them the advantage of knowing all the teams time splits. As for Phonak team of Tyler I am not suprise they placed 2nd considering most of their riders came from the team time trial jaggernaut ONCE.

Stage 16 is the day I call in sick for work . This is widely anticipated as it will feature the time trial up Alpe' D huez . it's only 15.5 km in distance but they will climb an average grade of 7.9% gain climb to a heigth more or less 1,700 meters or almost 2 km up (Baguio is about 1500meters but spread ove 30 km so the roads are not as steep as alpe D' Huez) since this is an individual time trial there will be no one to draft or pace you up the mountains. this truly one can call the race of truth.

More on Stage 16 Bourg d'Oisans-L'Alpe d'Huez Date: July 21 Distance: 9.3mi/15km Type of Stage: individual time trial, mountainous Principal Difficulties: km15: Alpe d'Huez (13.8km @ 7.9 percent) What to Watch For: Today's the day you call in sick and watch on TV. When the dust has settled, today may not produce pivotal time gaps, but this stage has been the turning point of the Tour since it was announced. The contenders have made training pilgrimmages to the Alpe to climb it in practice dozens of times; they have designed special bikes and equipment to speed their ascent. The win here is psychological; it proves that the winner is the strongest racer in the world right now and will be hard to unseat - that power will likely get him through to Paris in yellow. Principal Protagonists: Today is a day for the favorites, purely. There is a slight chance some lesser-known pure climber could win, but all eyes will be on the major contenders: Ullrich, given his size, is not tipped for a win but will likely be able to stay close. Some of Bicycling's pundits pick Armstrong; some pick Hamilton, but we're gonna tab Iban Mayo for a repeat win from last year. How this Stage Affects the Race: Again, the time gaps themselves will not be as significant. But the psychological impact will be - there are no excuses here, nowhere to hide. Every rider will have tried his hardest and the honest results of those efforts will be in display for all to see. The confidence boost to the winner (who may well hold the yellow jersey for his effort) should likely push him all the way to Paris. Local Flavor: The most mythical of climbs in the Tour, Alpe d'Huez went unnoticed for the first half century of the race's existence. It wasn't climbed until 1952, when Fausto Coppi won the stage and the overall; Coppi and Armstrong are still the only racers to have won this stage and the race's overall title in the same year; expect the winner of this year's stage to be added to the list.

What a tactical move by Lance Amstrong and his teammates. They set a very high pace that Jan Ullrich can't match it. Lance came second for the first hard climb and second overall. He did the tango today (out of the saddle ;D ;D ;D) when he dance is very dangerous. If he rides like this for the two or three stage is going to be over... and the record set .

Yup it was a key stage for Lance. hope he can continue this and avoid spills. The other big guns are now wary knowing Lance is still the man.
