Hi im new to mtb and my brother gave me his old bike, a 16" specialized hardrock 2009 disc type, and its mostly on stock parts, 8 speed po cya.. I mainly use it for exercise and I usually ride on roads and light trails.
My questions are:
Does Shimano Alivio 2016 (9 speed) groupset compatible with my bike? If yes, then do I need to buy a new hub?
Is this fork compatible with my bike?
"Sagmit Fork Air Suspension 26er Lock Out 30mm Stanchion 9mm Quick Release Straight Steerer Tube 1 and 1/8 Lock Out Air Suspension 30mm Stanchion 100mm Travel"
I know these are cheap parts. But any and all help is deeply appreciated.

Drivetrain doesn't care what frame you have, it will only matter on the seat tube size if the FD will fit. No need for a new hub if you're upgrading from 8 speed to 9 speed.
regarding the fork, being a 2009 frame, you'd still have a straight frame. this means that the Sagmit fork is compatible. although if i were you, i'd take a more reputable fork brand like suntour.
