About 3 weeks ago there was still a 2016 Trance frame for 42k in Rox. If there is non in Rox pls try Lifecycle MOA. They give cash discounts as well. You may call them at 9359250. Compared to the Anthem the Trance is a 140mm travel bike and the Anthem is 100mm. The Trance has a slacker geometry compared to the Anthem. I am talking about the 2016 versions (which is probably what they have) as you might find only the 2017 versions in the Giant website.

for first time fs users, you can't go wrong with giant. if you can get a trance, get it. i just love long'sh travel slack head angles.
i don't personally use fs due to priorities and budget constraints but am considering one (different manufacturer) in the next few years if i get lucky enough.
just be aware that a good hardtail is a lot better than a mediocre full suspension.

Same as spyghost's comment. If you're on a budget, can't go wrong with Giant. They offer probably the most for your buck. I remember seeing (forgot the model) a 140mm built Giant in JBL at 42K (this was a couple or so years back).

Hi tourdeice, maybe you can give a more detailed description of what kind of riding you want to do and some examples of where you want to do it? The real benefit of full sus is really on the trail, making it faster and easier to get over the technical stuff--this description of course is an oversimplification as all full sus bikes are not built and spec'd the same. Again, the type of full sus bike will depend on the type of terrain you want to tackle. For example, if you plan to ride 60% road, 30% on unpaved road, and 10% trail, then just stick to a hardtail. The suspension generally sucks power from your pedal stroke on a full sus bike vs a hardtail. Full sus is generaly heavier--specially on a budget. Anyway let us know what you plan to ride and maybe we can point you in the right direction.

trade off yan.
for FS, may weight penalty but you get traction and less jarring on the rough stuff. you also get bob regardless if you already have a rounded pedaling habit. and if you get a mediocre FS frame, it will have a bad suspension design and you can't tune the suspension.
for HT, you can fly if you land hard on the trail, you also get jarred on the rough stuff. thing is all your pedalling is translated to forward motion. you also loose traction on successive hits.
esulit is correct hwen he asked what type of riding do you do? i've tried both FS and HT and i can't really say i favor one over the other. both have their advantages and disadvantages, the question is which will you trade off?

Hawakan mo muna pera mo, or better ilagay mo sa banko or i-invest mo muna sa iba. Then hasain mo muna skills mo in biking. Laspagin mo muna yang Talon mo. Kilalanin mo mabuti bike mo, at sarili mong kakayahan. Getting a FS does not make 'future-proof'.

tourdeice , I have also been pondering long and hard about a futureproof bike and after a lot of research on bike tech. It looks like whether intentionally or not, there is a certain amount of obsolescence built into today's bikes. Standards are quickly changing because of trends like plus wheels sizes, boost spacing, 1x12 drivetrains. There is just so much change, its hard to tell what the future will be. Even if you get a bike worth Php500,000 its no guarantee you will be future proof. I also ride hard tail, and I ride purely trail, and I find that by improving my bike skills, I can do trail sections, I previously thought not possible. I want to get a full suspension bike in the future so my plan is not to spend on my current bike, unless its for safety, and save for a better full suspension bike. However if I ride mostly road, then I would definitely look at improving my current hard tail. I hope this helps. spyghost, I believe giant classified the 2016 Talon as cross country so the OP can start with that.

he he he equating FS with future proofing is not right. heck, 3 FS frames frame ago I felt I had the latest tech but with the latest changes in suspension designs and rear shocks, they'd be outdated today.

If your're ok with second hand stuff, try browsing ads in OLX. If you're lucky, you'll get a good deal. I bought a giant anthem frame (2010, 26er, suspension and pump included) at around 19k. Just be sure to inspect the frame. Look for cracks or rusty bearings.
