I didn't the Big S was planning to get into the carbon thing. Could XTR be next?

More than likely... I'm surprised that they didn't do XTR in carbon first! My guess is expect to see carbon on the XTR's for 2009 or 2010

I remember seeing an article about this on Cycling News or Velonews, but yes, its sure is beautiful. I'm not sure if I could say "it's about time" because their current crankset is just fine and as beautiful as it is. What I'm going to be more happy about is that they're finally going to do away with the way their cables are routed. Shimano outfitted road bikes will finally have that "clean" look, like Campy and Sram. Then I'd definitely say, "it's about time."

yup considering XTR cranks are already at carbon weight. sigh...
