The Trance and Reign get frame redesigns to have a cleaner look (no more pierced downtubes). They are now both lighter. The 5" TranceX is introduced. The Anthem and Glory remains unchanged for 2008. Reign now comes with the Fox DHX Air option ReignX with the Marz Roco and 55 The new 4.2" Trance The 5" TranceX The Alu-Carbon mix Alliance XTC The budget FS Yukon. Looks like a modified single pivot design. Full specs available at www.giant-bicycles.com/en-US/bikes/mountain/Enjoy!!!

TranceX: hgrrhrrrr the yukon looks like it's sporting a 4-bar linkage suspension I dont think so. When you look closely, the rear triangle is unified. It just has a rocker arm so the shock faces down. I hope it comes out here so we can have another budget FS option.

I think they changed the pierced downtube design because many complained that it is hard to set the suspension sag on them. These 08 frames are more round and organic looking but somewhat clumsy and less sleek / sporty compared to the previous versions especially when viewed from the side. But the seahorse shape is not as obvious when viewed isometrically hehehe. Proof: In fact I'd be happy with Trance X. It sits perfectly in that rare XC and All Mountain - all around trailbike category. The Trance X frame allegedly does not have any stickers/decals - the designs and logos are all anodized directly into the frame. I want one! ;D

The Trance X frame allegedly does not have any stickers/decals - the designs and logos are all anodized directly into the frame. I want one! ;D Another reason is to reduce weight. Extra material is used to support the pierced downtube to give more structural integrity. The Trance and Reigns couldn't compete directly with the Blur LT, 5.5, Nomad and 6.6 due to weight. I read somewhere that due to the new design the Trance and TranceX is lighter by more than half a pound and the Reign by more than a pound compared to their previous offerings. This results in having weights comparable to the competitors at less than half the price. The regular Reign now has a DHX Air option too just like the Nomad and 6.6. Downside is that the shock now sits higher on the frame which reduces standover height by a couple of inches. Giant is now leaning towards anodizing their frames to show that their workmanship is at par with the botique brands. God Job!!!

so, how much would a trance X cost? ;D The Trance X2 is priced at $1900. The similarly spec'd Trance from a year ago was $2100 (Used Reba not Fox). That's a good sign.

The ReignX didn't get to our shores so I think this is unlikely too.
Well if it gets on the Giant Taiwan website, it's likely to get here....

i can't see a unifying beam... but i can't see a chainstay/seatstat pivot. safe to say, it's not horst TranceX: hgrrhrrrr the yukon looks like it's sporting a 4-bar linkage suspension I dont think so. I read in mtbr forums that some guy from the phils, are able to order 08 Reign in one LBS, for $950USD. Is Giant 08 with pricing now in LBS and can be ordered?

08 giants are already available from authorized distributors/LBS. The Trance X2 built bike goes for around 80K. one thing is that they no longer mass produced these 08 bikes. there is a process now that you will need to order the bike/frame and wait a month or two, they will only send what is ordered. Trance up needs to be ordered, Anthem below are readily available if i remember it correctly.
visit authorized Giant dist/LBS and check out the 08 catalog and pricing.

What LBS are authorized Giant Distributors here in the south and nearby areas? The phone numbers of all the different bike shops are listed at the BIKE SHOPS thread. I think it would be a good idea to call Cycling Zone for this request. Here in QC you could try giving Extreme a call for availability.

I heard that the Trance x, Trance, and Anthem would be readily available. The Reign would be by special order only. You must've been too preoccupied when we were in the shop...or the too bonked out from the ride to remember anything.

Hi,
I've seen a Trance X up close and personal at Cycling Zone as one customer bring it over from the US and being set up in there, the frame is sexy!, the anodized paint and brand being etched in the frame looks good. Just really don't know the ride... but trance x I think will rock and also good value for money.

This bike is worth getting. It handled very well on the steep g-outs at Bootleg. Climbs very well. the only thing I would change on this Trance X1 would be the crank.
