I have been monitoring this thread for a long time already, and kept weighing my response to everyones inquiry and claim about the types of crank arm or pedal arm you may call it. Hollow or Solid crank arms rigidity depends really on the design and materials used. I heard a lot of flexy and sheared SOLID crank arms and Shimano cranks. But as of the latest, if ever you keep track of the german test in mtbr.com for crankset stiffness, For XC category, Shimano XT still leads this, while FSA (V-Drive) leads the Enduro class & Shimano Saint for DH. Here's the link *LINK*

ok to warlock! so pang enduro pala yung FSA V-drive, akala ko pang XC sya. kaya pala medyo mabigat compared to the Truvativ Stylo.

Sa Deore parang marketing gimmick lang yang hollowtech... mabigat pa rin ang Deore crankset. Tapos dehins pa one-piece ang spider at arm... Kung maiiwasan ang Shimano mas maganda ;D Bakit??

Shimano hater, hehehehhe, but remember, if not for Shimano, sram, hope, hayes, , etc will not innovate something.

Still others say, if not for Suntour... Shimano (SRAM, Hope, Hayes, etc.) wouldn't innovate. I believe it was Suntour that really challenged the European designs back then. But Shimano beat them not necessarily in technology but at the business-end of the game. Naku! This is off-topic na pala!
