What are the advantages of changing cables to products like jagwire? Is it just bling or are there performance gains as well?
What are your personal experiences?

I havent tried jagwire, but there is definitely a performance gain going from generic and entry level cables and housing to mid and high end ones. I use XTR shifter cable and housing and you can feel the difference. The XTR has teflon coated cables. Its much easier to shift. The price is pretty reasonable. Also, the sealing of the XTR cables is a lot better than the cheap housing. Thus, they stay smooth for much longer.
I've squeezed some Nokon and Alligator segmented brake housing sets and they appear to be very smooth. Plus, those segmented housing sets let you run really tight bends in your cables. A bit too expensive for my taste, though. P2-3k per set, I think.
If you dont want to spend too much on your cables, its ok to use entry level shimano or cheap housing by the meter. Just lube them well after a few very wet rides and replace every year after the rainy season.

Significant difference in shifting (when using Deore drivetrain) between regular Shimano cables and teflon coated YPK derailleur kit... easier, softer, smoother shifting....
Downside is the price (P700++ set)

If you run full cabling or even 3/4 of the line, Jagwire is good coz they have that sheath or cover for the inner cable where the gap is, sealed from the elements and smoother shifting. Added plus na lang yung color. But if you know how to fix your bike and on a tight budget, go for the shimano M system.

one thing about jagwire compared to some cables, notice there's no cable rub on your frame??hold still..., unlike others, i might be wrong but mine it doesn't move a thing( i mean the cable from rubbing the frame) while braking..

Hello brad, You are right, kasi they dont compress much and stretch sideways.
