sosi naman ng shoes... Lacoste pa!!!
Anyway, I'm an adidas fan. For clipless pedals, I use the Adidas MInnret together with Shimano 424 pedals. Its a good looking shoe that you can walk or hike with. I even use it for the office on casual fridays because its "normal looking." P2700 sa Newton.
On shorter rides and otherwise, I use the Adidas Baru, which is not an SPD shoe, but a hiking shoe. Its got sticky rubber also that works well with the pedal cage. P3495 sa Toby's

i still use my ever reliable vans mental where could i get these shoes!!!!! Got mine from VANS SM North EDSA almost 4 years ago... (can't remember) these can be fitted with cleats and the inner sidewall is higher than the other side to protect your feet from getting scratched by the cranks but will not qualify as bashguards... hehehe i think these shoes are not manufactured anymore... sorry sir JOEY!!!!

I gather from most of the posts here that skateboard shoes are second to cleats for pedalling comfort and efficiency. Tama po ba?

from experience, i like the grip of skateboard shoes (used to be a skateboarder) plus the extra protection on the toes. most skateboarding shoes have an extra leather on the toes so you can do tricks.
soles are also comfortable, the right stiffness and softness, he he he. i've used both airwalk and vans. my airwalk model had a softer sole, my vans' soles just takes forever to wear off.

Oakley is firmly commited to MTB and their shoes seem to be engineered to last 20 years. =) They're virtually indestructible. I use the Oakley Saw and Switchback for platform pedals.

I'm using coleman shoes. very durable and fits well. but for trail rides i use my caterpillar mt shoes that my dad bought me.
I don't feel like using sandals specially i had a bad experiance before. I had a bad fall and since i was using sandals i had bruises on my toes. sicne then i made it a point to buy those with front protection for my feet. There are teva river shoes that also look good.

Despite it's popularity, bakit wala yata gumagamit ng Chuck Taylors? They're affordable... breathable... have relatively the same sole as board-shoes... have toe protection... and come in highly-visible bright colors and outrageous designs---hehehe Hmmmn, I can only think of one possibility. Do they get heavy when wet?

Exustar Comp 42.0 with velcro straps and removeable toe spikes(for muddy trails),been using it for almost 1 year. I bought it at Cycle Art for Php 1.6k. Very durable, I've used it in road and all sort of trails. I use the shoes with SPD 505 pedal. I had to buy the multi release cleats for P500 though ;D

Seriously considering a move to clipless. Exustar na po ba ang most affordable shoes/pedals I could find? How are they when you get off your bike and, say, walk into a fastfood or mall? Di po ba madulas? Looks like football/baseball shoes kasi. Don't want to have to carry tsinelas pa.

sir gilbs, afaik, yes. actually, some people recommended the Php 1.8K Shimano M-037 to me (being a bike-commuter) but due to difficulty in finding proper size, i ended up with the Exustar SM-600 (which looks a lot like the aforementioned Shim 037s) for just Php1.4K. i liked the SM-100 too but they didn't seem to be appropriate for those with wide feet like me. they're good & grippy, no matter what surface. the recessed area for the cleats also make sure they won't give you that annoying clip-clop sound. i wear them when i bike-to-work to the office & they're almost always mistaken to be hiking shoes.

Hehe, sorry for the noob question, but what i have in mind is the opposite way. I fancy the clipless design so if I buy the Exustar or Shimano shoes, 1) what else do I need to buy? 2) What bang-for-the -buck clipless pedals should I buy then? I know what amny would say, you should go with the pedals-then-shoes format, but just for the sake of a curious mind, let's give this a shot
