remember that this isn't a solve-it-all device.... a clean shifter housing (inside) is necessary.

Tribal, Ghost shifting is a problem among some FS bikes this is caused by the rear triangle movement causing some movement in the shifter cables. The solution is to run full cable housing from your shifter to your rear derailler. Your cables will no longer fit in the standard cable stops so you just have to zip tie the cable to your frame and rear triangle. Hope this helps. Perfect!Under hard pedaling torque, the seatstay is actually bowing just a bit. When that happens, the cable stops that are on the seatstay are moving slightly closer together. The effect of this: cable tension drops just a hair, but enough to move the derailleur a bit, causing the skipping aka ghost shifting! Anyway, the fix is amazingly simple (like bongaph disclosed): just run a single piece of derailleur housing from the rearmost cable stop on the top tube down to the derailleur. Essentially, you are just bypassing the cable stops on the seatstay and taking the flex out of the equation. You'll have to zip-tie the housing to the stay so it may not be as pretty, but at least your drivetrain won't skip anymore!

Before Avid came out with the Rollamajig, there was the COG HOG. The Cog Hog came out in in the late 90s and was available at Joven. Browse old MTB magazines from that era and you will see Cog Hog ads. Cog Hogs are smaller, are made entirely from aluminum, and came in several anodized colors.
Their ads tell the very reason for their invention in one word: SMOOOOOOTH!!
Before Cog Hogs came along, the shifter cable entered the rear derailleur barrel via a short, tight arc of cable housing. Because of this, the shifter cable rubbed on the inners walls- creating drag/friction. Remember that shifter cable housings have steel inner liners to make them stiff. The drag becomes pronounced when the steel liners rust or the plastic housing crack/split.
By making the cable run around a small pulley wheel, this drag is eliminated and a shorter, straighter piece of cable housing is all thats needed to bridge the gap from the Cog Hog to the cable stop at the seat stay.
I still have and use a Cog Hog. I also have another (never used) kept in reserve. Oh yes, I also saw the Avids when they came out but I felt they were too bulky compared to the Hogs. All of us who bought Hogs back then were convinced we did the right thing when Shimano incorporated them in their XTR rear ders later.

no more used rollamajig. all 08 rd models shimano improve the cable route. loop no more. solve. Agree with you... but Avid is already a product of SRAM... and SRAM RD is the first who improve the cable routing of the RD... But still rollamajig is in their line of product... Maybe the company still see some sale potential even Shimano improve the cable routing... End of life or LTB (Last Time Buy) is not easy decision for a company when there is still demand...
