for me its still maxxis! i've tried the high rollers, minions, swampthings, holy rollers etc .. and they all performed well! maxxis is cheap, easy to get (if you know where to) and proven! its just choosing the right tire combination for a certain track ..since maxxis is very affordable, its easy to switch tires until you get the best combination ..ü im using 2.35 minion dhF's now (front and rear) and its been great since! maxxis maxxis maxxis maxxis!!!

am with pao - its maxxis for me. must have the orange stripe What is the difference of Maxxis tires with the orange stripe from those without? the one with orange stripe are using old compound formulation but the new one doesnt have stripes coz their compound cant integrate the stripes, the new formulation has stickier compound therefore softer, i read this on the maxxis site

So far I've tried Maxxis, WTB and Nokian. I have to admit that the Maxxis won my heart. Though, at the moment I'm using the WTB Timberwolf 2.5(i love those knobs). Hard wearing and road grabbing to a point it's like hell using those on pavement. Same with Nokian Gazza 2.3.

I think it's mostly about finding the right tires for the kind of riding you do...
I'm using a Kenda Nevegal Stik-E 2.1 on the back and a Nokian Gazzaloddi Core 2.1 on the front. Works pretty well for the fairly short but technical up-and-down tral rides we do this time of year. For dry season, when we do more epic rides and extended stuff, I'd really like to try out the Nevegal lite 1.95... anybody know where to buy them here?

Right now, I'm using the Kenda Nevegal 1.95 Stick-E for my trail bike and IRC Serac 1.95 for my XC.
The Nevegals are the best for technical trails and sticks to everything on the trail. Never slipped on me yet. It's a bit on the heavy side and too sticky for on-road rides. These are perfect for the single tracks of Maarat and Montalban.
The IRC Serac are my choice for long epics mixed with road rides. They are light and have very good rolling characteristics (very close to slicks). They are perfect for long and fast rides, especially Maarat to Sierra Madre Hotel type of rides.
I used to be a Continental Explorer fan until I tried out these tires.

maxxis here too
i use 2.35 Minion on the rear and 2.35 High rollers up front.
but on muds, i find the Mobster very effective, since the knobs are very much apart unlike the high rollers.
But the wet scream is advisable under this condition.

Maxxis Larsen TT (1.95") - My very first MTB tires.. PROS: Good grips on the wet and muddy terrain. Sheds mud easily. Cool looking tires with the yellow Maxxis.com logo on the side. CONS: Although its classified as a semi-slick tires, I feel that the rolling resistance for these tires are high. Easily punctures. Threads worn out very fast.
Schwalbe Racing Ralphs (2.1") PROS: very light, less rolling resistance for roads (espalto) and good for offroads too. CONS: threads worn out very fast. Abit slippery in wet. Easily puncture.
Continental SportContact (1.3" slicks) PROS: very very fast tires (no rolling resistance at all). Doesnt puncture easily. Good grip on dry roads. CONS: abit slippery when wet. High price.
next on my reviews will be: Panaracer T-serve (1.25" and 1.5") Kenda Klimax lite (2.1")

For all around brilliance... its specialized roll-x. rolls well, good cornering grip and fairly lightweight. Great for trail/xc. The good ones, not the class-b quiapo type, are just darn expensive and hard to find in tubeless version.
Next for me would be the kenda nevegal - amen.

A pair of high rollers in Quiapo costs 650/pair or less the last time I checked. I think 450/piece of high rollers is okay if it is the one that comes with the original Maxxis packaging.

I guess Php450 will be fine considerng you're in Cavite. In Cainta, Rizal, Maxxis HighRoller 2.35 (with orange line marking - heavygat) is sold at Php350 per piece. Just recently I bought a pair of HighRoller 2.1 (Blackwall - folding) for Php350 each - maybe old stock.
