brad, this is a trick question, different brands offers different technology or design.( Air, Torsion, tension, Shox and etc) What may be best to you or to others may not be best to me. And add to it the come on of Top athletes using them. make me wanna be like Haille Gebrasellasie!

what is the best running shoes? A trick question by shoe salesmen. Do you pronate or do you suppinate? Then they will show you dozens of models of shoes. Kaching! sound of the cash register. I will buy na lang Grosby! ;D Seriously, i've tried lots of running shoes coz I used to work in a distributor here in UAE. talk about Asics, Reebok, Brooks and etc ,etc. The main concern is only the fit, once you get the shoes that fits your bone structure, that's it. The bounce, shox, Air are not that significant. Sorbothane was one of the best aftermarket add on to running shoes that works, for me that is.

The best running shoes I've used was Botak - Made in the Philippines. Unfortunately, the company is no longer existing. Saucony is also good because it is wide and comfortable. I've also used Adidas but too narrow for me. Asics is also OK.
I have actually used Saucony during my Band Aid Marathon Clinic graduation and in the 1st PAL-Manila International Marathon...remembering those days...
Remember that the shoes you're going to buy should be your training shoes and will also be the same shoes you're going to use for the race - if you're racing...he he he

For me Sir i think it's Asics. I used this before in my HS athletics days. Served me well. I remember that time almost all of the athletes wear Asics since it's light and comfortable.

I use New Balance (full support & mid-foot strike models), feels better than my Nike+ .

you're bound to get very subjective opinions because our feet and running styles differ.
try the top brands and see which one fits you best.
but for me...
road: mizuno create 8, nike air zoom vapor (although i'm thinking of getting asics to replace the nikes soon, which are beginning to feel harsh) trail: north face rucky chucky

Superb running shoes! Have seen tank tops online for my younger sister's dance classes starting next month. Liked the designs and color combinations very much. Can be paired with leggings, pants, jeans and shorts too. Prices are suiting our budget as well. Will order and surprise her.
