yung mga tight cycling shorts? I think mga 500 lang yun sa All Terra. haven't really found anything cheaper than the brands you've mentioned.

if you're looking for el cheapo cycling shorts (the "tight" ones), nothing beats the ones i bought last Saturday @ PICC grounds...Php 150 for the cheapest pair ;D. As for quality, the padding is thick enough but i noticed the ones i got were kinda tight on the hemlines...pero maluwag naman yung waistband some of the PCN guys told me they become as loose as "puruntong" shorts after 10 washings ....if it's true or not, i'll find out in 10 weeks

for baggy shorts, hmm...not much recommendation, although yeah, kamikaze, bombproof, ground zero are common. some models don't have paddings though so they come cheaper for tights, yeah, nothing beats the P150 at the CCP grounds. you can wear the lycra shorts, then cut some old jeans to shorts, wear both

The cheapest "baggy" biking shorts around are the Cross Country (XC) brand... retails for less than 400 pesoses! I think they're available in Cross Train in Libis and Paulina's in Cartimar

its locally made. i doubt though if you can find one for 400php. siguro kung walang padding puwede pa (kung may model nga na ganun). lately kasi, nakikita ko nasa 500-550 na. kung lang ren, kamikaze nako. idol_julio, san meron 400 nun? mura ah! pabilan! ;D

Xcountry shorts are cheaper than Kamikaze or Ground Zero. They also have thicker padding. I also noticed that the fabric is more comfy for me. Medyo makati ang kamikaze.

Bought some in powerbikes, others in All terra. I think its around 550 each. The price is standard in all stores yata. In comparison, the Kamikaze i bought was 700+

Surplus Shops in in the malls--bought a pair there once for about 150 badoodles. I don't mean Ukay-ukay. If you're really on a budget, the latter is not a bad idea.
Goodluck.

ano ba ang pinagkaiba sa baggy at tight shorts? maliban sa appearance.. may contribution rin ba to sa performance?

There was a feature sa Discovery (or was it National Geographic?) which touched on this topic. It appears that compression shorts enhances performance of the muscles. Anyway, I don't quite remember the feature but I tried searching the web for info and here's what I found... The Influence of Lower-Body Compression Garments on Athletic Performancewww.personal.psu.edu/users/j/u/jus149/scholarlywork/BSUSymposium-ppformat-2000.PDF

baggy for appearance. you can walk into a starbucks in baggies without everyone looking at your felix bakat. hehehe tight lycra or spandex for performance and I should add, mudproofing. I used to ride on muddy trails in baggies, and after the ride, the insides of my shorts were really gross. So, since then, I use cheap lycras under the baggies.

The Influence of Lower-Body Compression Garments on Athletic Performancewww.personal.psu.edu/users/j/u/jus149/scholarlywork/BSUSymposium-ppformat-2000.PDFthanks for this link, sir Gilbs72 i've only quickly scanned through the article and found it quite interesting. i guess this kinda "validates" my preference for tights (which i've been using ever since the late 90's) but the obvious advantage of baggies, i think, other than "appearance", is the ability to double as cargo storage space (for cellphone, wallet, tools, food, etc.). ;D

I think MTB baggies over tights (in place of underwear) works well. Cyclists get the benefits of athletic compression shorts without underwear seams that cause sores on long rides. The MTB baggies naman offer additional padding, don't have back pockets to cause sores and look "decent" ;D when you're away from your bike.
I saw some dedicated athletic compression shorts from Body Glove and BIKE which seem to have really good fit and compression (zipped shut sa side) but these were made of Neoprene so they might not work well for performance cyclists who need some heat-ventilation. But according to the manufacturers, they use "Airprene"--a 2nd generation Neoprene which allows air to circulate through small perforations extending through the closed cell foam. Haven't tried these though.

ano ba ang pinagkaiba sa baggy at tight shorts? maliban sa appearance.. may contribution rin ba to sa performance? For me..tight is comportable for long ride. This due to better padding compare to baggy. Also it easy to jump on the bike without any obstruction on seat. Baggy sometime it has tendency you will get hook on the seat and lose your balance. But again as everyone agree that baggy is all around short. I also use going to the gym if I could not find any of my regular short .

Got my tight cycling shorts for 150 pesos only at Surplus Shop in Southmall...I have been using this for two years already but the color, garters, and padding still look and feel brandnew. I think its made in europe. Value for money talaga. I always wear it under my Ground Zero baggies.

XC baggy shorts are the best local ones IMHO. The padding is thick and the material is soft. You can get them at AllTerra/Xtrain
