I've been searching the net for the last 3 hours and Stronglight's site doesnt have english version. Searching for double The most common they have is 42x29. Even FSA have them. Im looking for 48 outer and hoping to get a midring in 30. Or even 46x 29. I dunno if its possible, So many BCDs to choose from. Reason? Inspired by the Bloopers, need to have the extra oomph on the road and to at least keep up with the roadies. ;D Check weight weenies starbike for referrence on BCDs and models. Detailed specs.

King, Salsa chainrings are very good, cheap and light. It's actually stronger than the Surly (stainless steel) chainring I have on the dingle but will wear a little bit faster since it's AL. www.salsacycles.com/chainrings.htmlI'm surprised Boyet hasn't started machining chainrings yet...

@king is it for ss use? here is what i did on my ss. . . . bought a 32t steel bmx chainring by MOB, bought the solid one without the cut out designs. 150php. had it machined to fit my lx crank, asked the machinist to drill holes all around to make it lighter. cost me 150php again. a total of 300php. i'm sure boyet can do this also because i saw one of his works on his kumpare's cannondale. ;D

Padi, just get an Xt 48-36-26 and remove the 26. But if you re doing a Blooper ride ...we all needed the standard granny 22 or 26 in my case . I personally could have used the 36-26 front rings only for that ride. The 48 was too kunat for about 70% of the sections. cadence -to-heartrate misbeats tuloy...i turned off my MP3 just to make sure I didnt overexert. @king, non-ramp rings are limited pickings here. Try powerbikes, Cycle Options and Sabak I opted for the easy solution...I bought JM's Boone-ring crankset heheh for 5-bolt cranks: I do have a spare blackspire 32t chainring for XTR 2006 though and its 5 bolt and ramped I also have a 42t Shimano Saint chain ring non-ramped...maybe you could ask Jane /Kings if she has Saint c-rings at 36t or 38t

Well, we have an "In-Debt-N-Dance" (independence day) party on Saturday at Marcelo Green Village, Phase 8. Our theme this year is "ain't nothing but a gangsta party"; come in your favorite gang costume. ;D Free food and drinks. This is one reason why I'm not joining this years Mens Health race (the other reason is that it's fathers day the next day). Free booze and food! Here are some photos from last year (movie theme): danekalbo.multiply.com/photos/album/67/In-Debt-N-Dance_072 years ago (pimp's and ho's): danekalbo.multiply.com/photos/album/18/_Pimpin_aint_easySorry OT.. ;D

The reason Im looking for 48 is for a crazy project. Since I dont see myself using my road bike anymore due to my really bad back and wrecked wrists, I will try to put 48 and the smallest mid ring that is compatible with it. I have a Stronglight Pulsion carbon crank with 53x39. Modify it with the combination I mentioned. I know the BCD is the main issue and will require alot of grinding and drilling to make the rings fit. I used to have a HT with that 48x36x26 and 11 to 28 cassette which I mainly use as a semi roadie. Here is my plan, HT frame Rigid or Supended 10 speed 12 to 27(changeable to 11 to 32 9sp) Double ring 48x32( if possible) Paul Thumbies with Barcon 9 or 10

I'll toss in my 2 cents. I use Surly. I agree it's not super strong, cause I bent mine straddling a log without a bashgard. But easy enough to pound back in shape without too much damage since it's stainless steel. I like the wear factor since I will use chains that are a bit stretched without damaging my steel cogs and rings. "strong, light or inexpensive, pick two".

King, You may want to try sourcing Blackburn non ramped SS chainrings. They're fairly priced and they don't break. (Disclaimer: It takes a lot to wreck these rings when installed properly). Try contacting some people here on PinoyMTBiker who live abroad (ie HK, KL, Thailand, SFO, etc) but come to Manila often and sell parts. You may get lucky. Try asking 'BEE' (Banny) if he has any chainrings for sale. I've gotten some good parts from him. I just had to time it correctly. Good luck. arnelI hope you're enjoying your cranks.....

i've ordered a salsa, with an FSA as an option, although i may not get either until the end of the month meanwhile i've just inverted my chainring. hope that holds for the next couple of weeks. the chain was slipping off the worn teeth badly under torque last weekend.

I saw a 38T Shimano chainring (Php 2.3K ) and a 40T Truvativ chainring (Php 750) at Cycle Option just recently. Both are non-ramped and for 4 bolted cranks.

I'm surprised Boyet hasn't started machining chainrings yet... Whoa! Now hold on a minute! I also know Boyet and as much as I want to see him expand his business, there are some realities on the ground to consider. Assuming he can get a reliable supply of chainring material to work on, (and that alone would be quite a feat) I don't think he could afford to buy a CNC gear hobbing machine anytime soon. The shape of a gear/sprocket teeth may look simple and innocuous to non-engineers but there is science behind why they are shaped that way. To anyone here with a background in Mechanical Engineering, the terms "pitch", "dedendum", "backlash" etc. would certainly ring a bell when it comes to gear/sprocket design/fabrication. Now if by chance Boyet wins the lotto, then he may well venture into chainring production. He has the passion naman eh. And I will be one of his first customers.
