Get well soon brad. I had my handlebars sideswiped by motorcycles and scooters a number of times too but thankfully I was able to regain balance. The sad part is they usually either act like nothing happened and they just speed away. I had the handlebar sideswiped by a jeepney and now that was scary. I immediately lost balance because of the speed and power of the hit (back side of the jeepney hit the handlebar as it accelerated past me) and I crashed down. It happened so fast I had no time to react. Thankfully I was able to unclip in time and got a little scrape on the elbow only. The driver stopped and did not speed away but seeing that I was unhurt - insisted that I run into him! Now everytime a car accelerates ... I make sure I am a few feet away - not mere inches away hehehe.

good to know sir your doing good after that... be praying for your full recovery... nice father and son picture there for your question... there are tricycle drivers who I know value other peoples... some first escape but reports to a lespu station for safety... and the worst is those who really doesn't care...sad to say this are mostly the one's who are the mapagbiro sa manibela type of drivers...(sorry, can't find the right word to fit.) If I'm the guy who's driving the tricycle that hit you...i would pull over, check on your condition first, then I would check if you have your good reliable SLR spanking camera with you...just kidding sir... seriously...if I accidentally hit someone I would slowly stop and check the person's condition. with that...you could provide the necessary medical attention for the victim either protect yourself if the victim may/will exaggerate things.

Thank you to everybody for enduring with me. I'm doing fine. Day 3 of my recovery Still have not been able to move my left arm. Fingers are working ok but since moving my arm to any other position hurts, I cannot use that hand to type. Lying down is worse than standing up since the shoulder blades seem to be affected by gravity and it hurts like.. you don't wanna know how much. So I went to QiGong/Taichi/Shaolin master again in Noodletown (the orthopedic I was talking about the 1st place) and paid him a 2nd visit. This time he gives me another 5 shots of local anesthesia, puts several firecups on my shoulder that lasted a few minutes. He mentions that improvement has occurred and I'm on my way to full recovery. [[cupping]]

2 weeks later... Presently thinking about the 72 moves of TaiChi Chuan. Thinking lang, still can't raise the arm. Biked to work the other day. Plopped the left hand on the handlebar to make it look like 2 handed biking. Shoulder hurt like hell when braking (even at slow speeds). 2Kms one way. Took the jeepney on the way back. Biceps black and blue. Must have torn a ligament or 2. Kept hurting myself watching UFC! ;D

On the 3rd week, consulted an orthopedic trauma specialist (c/o Caritas). He requested an MRI of the shoulder (costing P8500 at Cardinal Santos Hospital, FREE in my case c/o Caritas, thank you) Impression: Vertical ununited, non-displaced fracture involving the lateral aspect of the humeral head and greater tubercle, with adjacent bone marrow edema. Facts: The Xray showed nothing. The MRI showed something. An Xray is getting a 1 shot image, an MRI is getting 80 images. Xray has risk of radiation, get more than twice a year, you lose your ability to father children. OTOH, you can get an MRI everyday, it's fine. Moral: If you have a health card, skip the xray and get your orthopedic doc to issue an MRI request! P.S. Was reprimanded for taking out the cast in 3 days, for not using the sling in 7 days, and for trying to bike on the 2nd week. Was instructed to wear the sling and take it easy for the next 2 more months!

oh man so this is the thread i've been looking for... to be honest with you like 98% of the people who have licenses here we all paid for the lagay.. maybe a handful of us actually knows what the "keep intersection open" meant.. yep... blame it on the government... hehehehe i guess over and beyond all these there is a greater responsibility that we should employ if we get on whatever vehicle.. it is a responsibility to keep everyone safe and stop being selfish like we own the road.. it's sad how motorists react nowadays.. its sad to see how and not caring meant.. we'll the Lord our God said.. "Let vengeance be mine" heeheee
am a motorcycle rider.. in as much i avoid zigzagging the streets... and in as much make my presence felt before i overtake.. regardless of vehicle type am overtaking... ignorance is not an option nor an excuse.. responsibility responsibility
seriously though i hope you recover faster... there's no one on the trails that sells catpao and gatorade and sunblock hehehehe ang cute mo pakurot nga...

Yesterday I decided to drive the kids (with one arm, power steering naman) to school. I parked my Revo on the other side of the street fronting my store. A few hours later, an arrogant employee (who works at the store where I parked) came into my store. He shouted that we are trespassing their space, that the parking fee has been paid for, that I should remove my vehicle. My reply was: "Gusto mo suntukan?" (trans: you wanna get beat up?) My secretaries were alarmed, one of them said: "Sir, your arm is broke and you wanna start a fight?" I told them: "dehins naman ako yung makikipagsuntukan, si Mrs papupuntahin ko"... (Trans: You wanna hurt your arm like I did? You argue with my wife) And so, the arrogant guy left the store with a grin from ear to ear, shaking his head from side to side. The End. Thanks guys for cheering me up. It's really hard to be sidelined like this. The pain, the depression, the midlife crisis. Sierra Madre! That's a promise ha? Newbie itching to ride soon! Woohoo!!!!

that's why i hate motorcycle riders. ;D ;D ;D get well soon brad... some motorcycle riders are cyclists too. Yes they are but however they turn into something else when they feel the small horse power underneath their tiny little balls. I myself have had the misfortune of coming face to face with bike riders that don't have any sense of road courtesy especially to pedestrian and cyclist alike. Mahilig mang-pina ng mga tao yang mga yan especially when the feel they squeeze into narrow path to get ahed of traffic. They haven't even considered those machines their riding aren't considered big bikes just scooters. And most scoot rider have this notion and motion of big bike riders to ride fast as if their rides are stolen. I'm pretty sure the bike that sideswiped gadget88 was scoot-rider and pardon me most of them didn't get the proper instuction on how-to-ride their machine and how to act once on them and on the road. Pardon me for saying this butbut it's somehow true, most of them are posers and barubal magpa-takbo 'yan mga yan. Get well soon gadget88 and get back on the saddle, I've been in that situation where you're in. Take it easy
