Hello there MTBikers! Bago lang po ako sa forum. And I would like to get back to biking. (lumalaki na ang tyan natin!) ;D Kindly take a look at this bike I found on the web, and please give me your honest opinion. If this is not worth it, please tell me what can I get for relatively the same price in the Philippines. OR...magkano ang magagastos if something like this will be assembled there. OR...what would be the best value for the budget of Php15k? Your expert opinions are greatly appreciated! (Dati rin naman po akong nag-BMX...pero yun na yung last...matagal na! hehehe) www.ibexbikes.com/Bikes/2004/COB-26-Details.html

1st MTB right? hey everybody do start with such bike. Anyway, basing from what we normally go for, components are acceptable Alivio/Deore, brakes kinda make me think why not put the Alivio as well, c o c kpit & wheelsets are okey....its just the frame that kinda scares me. If you'll just ride this bike for some exercise by the local park...this will work and will last, just dont do those stunts you were doing with your bmx back then ;D BEWARE: Mountainbiking is addicting! ;D $400 x 56 = 22,400 Php.... Guess you can have a decent hardtail with full Deore components, dunno about the fork I'm not sure if we can still add Rock Shox Judy TT. Max, what do you think? since you're in good position to know the current pricing.

Cobia 2.6 Details: Frame: 6061 Aluminum Full Suspension - Cobia frames are specially designed for smaller riders. Aluminum rear swingarm rides on cartridge bearing pivots. Fork: Rock Shox Judy TT suspension fork has been redisigned for 2004 for even better terrain-taming performance. The Judy is legendary, one of the models that made Rock Shox famous..refined over years of ongoing development. Features 1-piece aluminum lowers, HydraCoil damping, Dual Stage coil/elastomer spring, external preload adjustment and 80mm travel. Drivetrain: Shimano Alivio/Deore - The 24-speed Shimano drivetrain includes Alivio shifters, front derailler and TruVativ IsoFlow crankset (w/ 165mm crankarms) while the rear derailleur is upgraded to Deore. Shimano HG-50 8-speed cassette and KMC chain complete the package. Shifting is extremely smooth and reliable. Brakes: Tektro IO Disc Brakes - These mechanical disc units provide powerful braking. Disc brakes have the inherent advantage of being up out of the muck and mud that rim brakes tend to pick up revolving through it on each turn. These Tektros are reliable and have built in adjustments that allow you to dial them in perfectly. Wheelset: Alex TD-17 Alloy Disc Rims laced to Formula Disc Hubs. These top quality alloy hubs use full cartridge bearings and spokes are 14-gauge black stainless steel. 26" x 2.10 Kenda All-Terrain tires work well on and off-road. thingamajingpit: Handlebar, stem and seatpost are provided by Kalloy. The stem is a forged alloy design and seatpost has micro-adjust. Mawri Downhill alloy platform pedals suit the Ignition's mission admiarably. A plush, but lightweight Velo Freeride saddle makes landings easy and all-day rides a breeze while Kraton/gel grips are both comfortable and functional. ======= Wow! $625 dollars almost P35,000! With 35k makakabuo ka na ng magandang hardtail nyan dito sa pinas. baka naka XT ka pa. hehehe I think its a proven fact na mas mura sa pinas ang parts ng MTB (Times like this am proud to be pinoy! hehehe) although minsan kokonti ang choices dito:) Havent heard of the brand cobia and the components are lo end. For the MSRP, I think its expensive. With little more research I think your $625 can have more of a better deal. (Unless maganda pala ang brand na cobia at d lang ako familiar) ehehehehe by the way the opinion is not from a pro its from a regular guy ;D
