I have a GT i-drive 2.0 before... The manufacturer describe it as "Intellegent Drive"... the pivots automatically locks up when your climbing for more pedal efficiency. It's really working when the bike ascent at more than 5 degrees inclination... but not working less than that... I better use the shock with lock out. anytime you need it, a simple click will change your ride style.... Also, because of complicated mechanism of the i-drive. It makes the frame heavier and hard to maintain...

Mountain Bike magazine once called the I-drive concept/design as nothing more than a complicated version of the Unified Rear Triangle (URT) design.

come to think of it.... its true.
but URT's are very compliant when pedaled. setback is suspension is compromise.
