What a super ride! Super fun, super tiring, and super hot! It was great seeing everyone and meeting more riders that I only see here at the forum, you guys know who you are was begining to bonk a few kms from all terra, I was soooo hungry that I asked Mat to buy me a burger and fries even after eating from the buffet prepared by Victoria Court ;D My first century ride made more memorable coz it was time well spent with Mat, with friends, and fellow riders who share the same passion. Makoy - thanks so much for the pictures, will grab some for my multiply Congratulations to Lungcaire and Edmund for a job well done!

Congratulations to Edmund (xtrain) for a very successful & fun Century ride! We were so impressed you even had C5 road (in front of All Terra) paved with new asphalt! ;D Kudos to the Marshalls for a job well done! Thank you Marshall Reiner for the assistance. We're grateful for the riders who gave encouraging words during the climb in Bugarin. Sorry, wasn't too quick on the draw for my cam. Anyway, here's some: at club 650 Master Dandan leading the stretch-ing excercises with MC Stephen Pasig Riders before the break-away group. ;D Refreshments at Station 2. Pasig Riders' Sweepers. He,he! More power to Lungcaire Plus and hope to see you all again next year for another Fun Century ride!

That would be me on the right. Thanks for the pic! I would like to give shouts out to: MrsM and her hubby (don't forget to patronize Alter Station, haha). To Mackoy who obviously had the strength to be in the 1st group (sandbagging, eh?). To LitoBen of Rudy Project -- 39-23 gearing, I think; no wonder he was getting cramps. I had a 34-27, thank God. The challenge for me was to use up to 34-24 (the second easiest cog), but halfway up to the 3rd stop (was that Bugarin?), I bailed out and put on the 34-27 and started averaging a measly 10-11kph going up. To the PinoyMTBiker folk who made me lust for their triple chainrings and bigger cogs. To Edmund of All Terra for organizing this. I met a few other people, of course, but I'm still tired, and part of my brain I left up the mountain.

Some comments/observations: In the beginning, there was the 1st group (fast), 2nd group (medium), 3rd group (easy pace). I have a friend (husband and wife) who are new to biking. They did the Tour de Fireflies (after owning their bikes for just a week). They were enthusiastic about this 100km ride (after all, there was supposedly a "3rd" or "easy" group). It's a good thing I told them "NOT YET". This was NOT a beginner's ride, no matter how you look at it, simply because of the CLIMBS. Edmund said he might organize one around Laguna (flatter) that could be more newbie friendly. That said, although I'm no climber, I absolutely relished the challenge of all that climbing. I thoroughly enjoyed climbing, even at only 10-11 kph. In fact, I can't wait to climb something like that again! Even coming back, the Teresa part, with all those really Baguio-esque looking switchbacks, my muscles were screaming to stop, but I just absolutely loved it! In a sado-masochistic way, I looked forward to another steep switchback (I might have changed my mind without the 34-27 gear on my roadbike, though). Anyway, in the descent from Bugarin, I was trying to keep up with the marshalls -- we were already screaming down at over 60kph according to my cyclo-computer! I think the marshalls should have slowed down on that part -- maybe they find that slow, but I was scared descending like that. Some in my little group descended much slower (I didn't know since I was too worried about keeping my body and bike strictly on terra firma, so I couldn't look back). Also, even after reaching the very first stop, there ceased to be 1st/2nd/3rd groups.... it all became a random kind of grouping. The organization went haywire from there -- NOT the organizers fault, but that just became the nature of things. Kudos, in fact, to the organizers for having a good number of marshalls to accompany the various groups. (In the end, though, going up Teresa and coming down Antipolo, and through Ortigas and all the way to Club 650, I was pretty much alone -- there was another biker (Mr. Gutierrez, who had a nice light blue/aqua Bianchi), and though we didn't make any formal groupings, we just arrived at the same time at Club 650 -- it's nice to co-congratulate someone once you finish an epic like this).
