Hmm.. Been to 2 Newbie rides this year. I guess we should have a courtesy to the riders both newbies and vets... How about making rules to make life easier for both Veterans and Newbies?
Example :
*there was a climb portion wherein a sea of veterans trying to pedal their way uphill and the newbies trying to push their way up as well.. As newbies there will always be a bigger margin for error that could lead to a pile up. and it's not going to be a nice sight since it's going uphill (even greater danger when going downhill).. good thing Arci (my idol) was there and was telling them newbies take the right side and vets take the left flank.. i know it's hard to organize perhaps implement rules on trails... Mountain biking is a spontaneous sport, taking that into consideration we can have a spontaneous orderly rides... considering the fact that we are almost in the middle of nowhere it's hard to to foresee an accident.. might as well make measures to 'avoid or lessen' accidents...
*there was also a time wherein i was cut by obviously a matured rider during our licao mp3 ride.. i know am sort of guilty of this as well when I was going downhill on the latter part of the trail on our may 1 ride.. but the difference was i on my part was making an effort to make my present heard.. was shouting passing through passing through repeatedly... unlike my licao experience this rider suddenly appeared from nowhere...
---my apology to the guy.. i know you were startled ( i know because i apologized to him later when we met)
-how about making it mandatory for the PinoyMTBiker jerseys owners to guide/assist newbies
-how about making it a rule as a safety net that newbies to stay on the safer side of the trail to make way for vets who are faster going downhills/uphills
-how about taking it to another level that if one is overtaking (not knowing if it's a newbie or vet who is taking their time and pace) to tell them or bells?
-how about as moderators or vets classify certain trails as level 1, 2 or 3
-how about as newbies we should let them where certain colored shirt or bands in a ride so that we can know the level of the rider.
i know i know... it's hard but we can try di ba? to make mountain biking enjoyable esp. on a humongous scale such as the May 1 ride... how about making it mandatory that we schedule a May 1 June 12 etc rides?
-i know mountain biking is a free sport and that's why i like it... making rules doesn't take the fun away from my point but instead it makes it more enjoyable for both new and veteran riders
